thinking about dex and how his entire identity is just a collection of things he’s stolen from people who actually knew how to be human. he’s just a guy trying to be a person and failing miserably. anyway, i'm sad now, so i'm making it everyone else's problem.
Poindexter + loneliness hcs:
his loneliness manifests as a refusal to let go of the physical remnants of a good day. he might keep a specific gum wrapper or a receipt from a time he felt "normal" in a sealed box. to him, losing the object means losing the proof that he is capable of being human.
on his worst days, he might sit in a completely empty room, wearing only the most basic fabrics just to minimize the sensory input.
when he feels a "spiral" coming on, he likely spends hours re-aligning his silverware or color-coding his closet. The sadness is channeled into a frantic, silent need for order. if the room is perfect, maybe his mind is too.
he doesn't just throw things to stay sharp he throws things to feel seen. sometimes he’ll flick a coin into a trash can from fifty feet away when no one is looking, just to prove to the empty street that he’s still "the best." it's the only time he feels like he has a purpose, even if the only witness is a security camera.
