upon closer reading they seem to equate transgender ppl with, weirdly, bisexuals ? ("Nunca tivemos nenhum problema sobre essa questão. Transexuais, bissexuais, que façam exame.") in the latter but i mean, still use of chosen name & pronouns all the way through, acknowledgement of the local cultural third gender ("O participante travesti ou transexual"...), not a single mention of 'used to be' anything (just "she began going by this name at 14" and "proctors were confused when I gave them my ID, asked if I was really who I said I was, but eventually let me in") so, you know, 200% better than anything a mainstream american media publication would put out

yesterday i was reading a random scary manga from a list honey linked me, & it was six chapters long but the only sixth chapter batoto had up was in.. portuguese. & as i clicked through & wrapped it up i was like "isso é. isso é porque eu aprendi português. era para que posso ler e entender manga mesmo quando so foi traduzido a português por qualquer razão estranha."

the more i become familiar with italian the more i'm convinced that brpt had it /right/ & needs to serve as an example for all romance languages. quem precisa uma forma 'tu'? não português brasileiro! quem precisa uma conjugação pra o futuro? tudos os brasileiros 'vão' fazer coisas. e plurales com 's'! o que italiano tem contra plurales com 's' como ~todas as otras linguas~?? credo che adesso vedo parlare portuliano. 'vedo' fare tuttas las cosas. e tuttos ils plurales, posso creare con s. voi piace di las parolas stranas che cominciano con s! perché non finiscano. anche, non abbiamo questa cosa 'tu'. come portughese, tutto il mondo possano chiamare 'Lei' e 'Loro'. 'lei è mia amica più gentile.' (anche senza qualsiasi articolo determinativo.) 'ah grazie, lei anche è mio.' così. se ha bisogno di formale, può usare 'il signore'/'la signora'. come portughese. 'la signora ha bisogno di aiuta?' 'no, grazie.' ecco!! con questas rigolas, il italiano (quem precisa mais de um tipo de articolo determinativo per genero?) va essere molto più facile per aprendere. prego. uvu

today the teacher explained that "Che fortuna!" e "Che sfortuna!" are opposites & i tried to remember what other weird comincia-con-s words i'd seen & came to the conclusion that if 'forza' was strength then 'sforza' was weakness !! but so i asked the professor and it's not and thats why i have trust issues.

la mia professoressa d'italiano ha parlato "dovete usare solo le parole ci sono nei primi due capitoli del vostro libro" nel nostro classe e nei nostri compiti. ma. che noia ! sì sì, ho capito perchè lei voglia così. però preferisco parlare molto, tutto che posso, e fare tanti errori più di parlare poco e non fare troppi. .... credo che sono un po' più rapido in capire, forse, sì... beh. bene. è palloso, ma posso supportarlo. sto ancora imparando, dopo tutto.

cripes i just tried attending italian tutoring which is right after italian class & i liked the tutor a lot & enjoyed it but god./damn/ speaking a foreign language is just as much of a workout as trying to run a marathon. as in i know it gets easier after months & years of repeated practice but. rn i'm out of shape & feelin like i ran half a mile fr every sentence i tried to put together. chrissakes. l'italiano è bellissimo, vero!! me piace molto, è il mio classe preferito! ma. beh. non per quasi quatre ora, capisi. ai. (posso parlare 'ai'? quello è portoghese. non lo so. me ne frega. aiaiai.)
