I think the "Queerest character" is going to be a bit of a popularity test at the same time cuz ofc fans are going to make their faves queer, it's a compliment!!

For the record, I have no problem with this, but I can't believe any of the dwarf miners under Gillin are straight, they're just naturally less popular than the characters they go up against bc they aren't fleshed out in canon.

Yeah, true. Even when the tournament isn't explicitly a popularity contest, it still ends up partly a popularity contest.

Then again, last year the results of the Queerest Character Tournament were quite different from the Favourite Character Tournament, so who knows.

But is anyone else having this problem where, if you click on an image to open it full screen (to actually see/read things since one of th previous updates made images so small), it just...openes something else entirely random?

I had to go to the actual blog of the post to view the image

That kind of format doesn't really work to learn mindfulness anyway imo. It didn't click for me until I did it on my own. I used Headspace I've tried a lot of shitty apps and it's the only one that like...doesn't feel completely patronising

I just had a memory from elementary school resurface

When I was in grade three (? I think) we had a unit in our class one day where the school counsellor came and did a lesson on reading body language, communicating emotions, and basically conflict resolution.

So it was like "these facial expressions show that someone is sad; when someone you're talking to makes this face it might mean what you said hurt their feelings! Here's what to do to smooth things over!"

There were face charts and video clips, the whole shebang and I can still picture bits of it.

And I remember just being FASCINATED by the whole lesson and absorbing as much of it as I could and for years I would revisit the things I had learned and apply them to social situations.

It was honestly SO helpful and I think that was probably around the time I started to make like proper friendships that lasted longer than a few months.

... This was probably because I'm autistic.

Like obviously the lesson was meant to be helpful for allistics kids because it was something they presented to our whole class. But I think for everyone else it was more of a lesson in conflict resolution and reminding them to be mindful of others' feelings, not necessarily training them in social cues.
