Much like a hefty bowl of cereal, it’s speedy construction being a quick relief is never a solid satisfaction when it comes to the everyman’s morning stomach. Such can be said about “The Cloverfield Paradox”, it’s visuals and effects were great, the story was also not too bad, however the ending seemed a bit lackluster.
Relating to dimensions and getting things crossed is a vague summary of what this movie was about. Careful there might be SPOILERS ahead. A ragtag group of engineers, scientists and Chris O’Dowd are sent into space (or are already in space) to test a hadron-like-collider that is meant to provide the world with an endless resource of energy.
However, that bowl of sugary cereal turns real soggy and ends up being Lucky Charms instead of Fruit Loops as their dimension has rough sex with an alternate reality and shit gets weird. The main source of entertainment here being the sudden odd surprises that seem to happen randomly. These physical surprises such as someone’s insides being full of worms, a very helpful severed Chris O’Dowd arm being used only once to push the story along, other than that, it’s just a space disaster movie. Granted at the beginning of the movie they mentioned monsters coming into play, spoilers the monster is the Cloverfield monster at the end. This is of course when the protagonist makes it back to earth as the shocking twist being Earth is roving with huge giant monsters. YOU SHOULD HAVE STAYED IN SPACE GURL!!
Overall, we score it as a 6 A.K.A the Dunkin Donuts coffee of the bunch. It’s coffee, it’s not bad, not good, gets the job done though.
