Our Shared Work: Global Reflections from CLPP 2015
Hundreds of young activists from across the United States traveled to Hampshire College this past weekend for the incredibly informative and uniquely radical Civil Liberties and Public Policy (CLPP) Conference. This year, the conference focused on building the movement for reproductive freedom, from abortion rights to social justice.
Planned Parenthood Generation Action youth activists from New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Memphis gathered with Planned Parenthood Global’s May Sifuentes at CLPP 2015.
Sexual and reproductive rights at the global level were a prominent topic of discussion: activists from global and domestic organizations, alarmed at the recent wave of cases criminalizing women for miscarriages, discussed topics ranging from the right to choose in Argentina, the misinterpretation of the Helms Amendment, recognizing abortion providers as human rights defenders, and the astounding xenophobia behind some anti-abortion laws in the U.S. Follow CLPP on Twitter for updates and media from the conference.
