If Husk had a soundtrack #1 So on Twitter I usually want to tell people: WOW THIS SOUNDS LIKE I WANT TO HEAR FOR THIS STORY. And I usually just say: If Husk had a soundtrack it would sound like THIS.So Now that I am on Tumblr I can go a little bit more in depth what I mean by this. So consider this a sort of series full of music and me rambling about why I like the music so much. Okay so, I love Clipping, yet I don’t like rap music if that makes any sense. Even though it’s main focus is to tell stories through multiple people who live on the streets, have an addiction or aren’t mentally stable through music, is one of the best ways to tell how serious it is to be living a life like that. The thing that makes it all the better is how experimental the music is that they are making. They amazed me with their track Story 2 which a friend told me to listen to and I was hooked from that moment on. The reason why I chose this track is how ‘noisy’ and ‘gritty’ it sounds. And this goes for every Intro Daveed Diggs has been doing (This high speed rapping can be heard in every intro of their albums and they dropped their 3rd one this exact month, do yourself a favor and listen to it!)The feel is there it’s dark and unexpected which is something I have been looking for. I am not really looking for a kind hearted story, but I also am trying to bring harmony into it to give it more juice for the audience from different backgrounds to enjoy. Now lyrics wise it’s as gritty and serious as they are all trying to be, but I will not be using any of it in Husks story. I will put it right here and right now: Lyrics don’t matter unless you can clearly see them being represented. From this track I recommend everything CLipping has to offer, but you should really start from their very first album ‘Midcity’ to their second album ‘CLPPNG’ to their latest album ‘Wriggle’. You can hear a very good progression from the band aswell as Daveed Diggs growing to have his own style (Not gonna lie...in the first album he sounds kinda...’’swaggy’’) But their singles are also worth while listening to such as ‘Knees on the ground’
