Rodney's Epiphany - Chapter 2 - Salchat - Stargate Atlantis [Archive of Our Own]

Rodney remembered he’d promised to meet Jennifer for dinner and realised he didn’t have his earpiece in and she’d probably been calling and he hadn’t answered, and now he’d have to… he mentally scanned through his rote-learned directions on ‘not pissing off your significant other more than absolutely necessary’ - ah, yes - he’d have to apologise, take her some flowers or whatever and, er… oh, of course - listen to her telling him what a pig he was and do his best not to react until she’d got over it. It was simple when you knew how, really. Not particularly enjoyable - but simple.
Probably, thought Rodney, easing out his cramped back and discovering his coffee mug was half full of cold dregs, married life involved stopping work every day at what your spouse considered to be a reasonable time, having dinner together and generally paying her the kind of attention she wanted - and that was a goal he’d start working toward soon. Tomorrow. It was too late for today. By quite a few hours.
