"never," he repeats, softly and almost shyly, as she tugs on his hair. sometimes, he still finds himself nervous to be with her like this, as if her favourite butterflies live in his stomach rather than the rare patches of flowers among the stoney shore of dragonstone. he can't help but feel silly for feeling nervous about it, all things considered, but he does anyway and will never admit it, or at least he does not plan to.

he shakes his head slightly at her question, pulling his curl from her fingers. "not even with vermax," he says softly. vermax has been with him since he was first placed into his cradle, growing alongside each other as the years pass, but his love for his dragon will always be much different from what he feels for helaena. there will never be anyone else he feels this way for, of this, he is sure. "you only suppose," he teases her softly as he leans into her touch as she pulls him down to press her lips to his nose. "i think you may have missed," he breathes out, his hand settling on her cheek as he leans further in to press his lips softly against hers.

20. How do you overcome writer’s block?

controversial opinion incoming: I don't think something like writer's block exists. unless you have something along the lines of ADHD and go into literal executive dysfunction on things or ( which is the case with me a lot ) squirrel brain kicks in and suddenly other stuff is more interesting, there is nothing that is actually blocking someone from writing. personally, I think we'd all be doing ourselves a favor and just honestly admit we're not feeling it at the moment and that's completely fine and natural. you don't feel it, don't do it. there's nothing to overcome when there's no pressure.

21. Are there certain characters that you gravitate towards?

sarcastic and beautiful assholes that surprise others and themselves with how caring and kind they can be. I love the dark and menacing kind of character that actually turns out to be very protective and attentive and strangely not so bad after all. combine that with breaking the cycle and generational trauma ( especially cutting ties with toxic parents for some reason - now what does that say about me? ) and I'm sold.

22. Short, medium, or long threads?

medium or long. I'd love to do short threads but my brain won't let me. things always get wordy.

23. Do you ever get jealous when rping? How do you handle this?

I used to years ago, especially cos I suffer(ed) from pretty bad duplicate anxiety, so yeah I can admit that I occasionally got jealous when other portrayals got more attention from friends or people I looked up to. but I grew up I guess? figured that none of this is all too serious. should a flash of jealousy hit me nowadays, which really almost never happens anymore, I call my own ass out for it and remind myself that I'm being ridiculous. and usually the feeling fades pretty quickly. I might also do a little introspection to figure out why exactly I'm feeling jealous . . . is it a ship partner swooning over a ship that isn't ours? cut that shit out, self, that's bullshit. is another writer getting more attention from a friend? well, I'm sure I got a meme from said friend somewhere so I can stop complaining and get to writing things with them. things like that.

24. What about your muse are you most proud of?

that I made him up. it sounds horribly conceited, I know, but I started Maron on nothing but a name and two or three brief mentions in the books. everything he is now is my own creation and I've had a lot of people tell me by now that they legit forget he's not actually in the series, or they get upset when they think he should be in certain scenarios and then isn't. it's the greatest compliment I could have ever imagined and I'm insanely proud of that.

His head is angled down, his jaw tensing to keep himself put together as much as he could. However, he knew hiding from his sister wasn't something that was easy to do. She had been too observant, always had been. Still, he doesn't look up and instead shakes his head as he takes in a deep breath. Eyes squeeze shut before he clears his throat, gathering himself fully to eventually look up. He knew his eyes were tinged red as he held back the tears, there was nothing he could do about that. "I am fine." Harwin answers, his voice slightly shaky before he once more clears his throat. "You don't need to worry about me, Abby. I promise." A lie, but he felt he needed to be as strong as he could with all things considered.

AS IF HE HAS ENOUGH TIME TO SAY NO . not  that  he  wants  to  ,  of  course  ,  and  not  that  he  would  have  regardless.  helaena's  presence  is  one  of  very  few  which  is  readily  and  openly  welcomed  by  the  otherwise  disinterested  prince.  he's  long  since  ceased  trying  to  talk  her  out  of  these  late-night  rendezvous  outside  of  those  they'd  taken  care  to  plan  ;  helaena  has  a  mind  of  her  own  ,  and  aemond  respects  and  adores  her  too  much  to  protest  further.

if  trouble  were  to  follow  ,  at  least  he  would  have  spent  his  final  free  moments  with  one  whom  he  loves  most.

the fire in his chambers has grown dim with the hours that have passed, a barely there soft glow to accompany him in his moments of restlessness. he isn't certain why sleep evades him, but has learned it is better to give in than to fight it. when the hinges of his door creaks, he knows immediately who has come to visit him at what could be considered an ungodly hour. still, he remains silent. it amuses him that she sneaks in, despite the fact that he has always welcomed her in her time of need. cregan waits until the heavy blanket is pulled back slightly, and the bed dips with her weight. his feet maneuver into a position that is out of reach from her cold toes, though he rests his head atop hers as she cuddles into him.

" if it is ever your intention not to wake me, i am sorry to say that you are not very discreet. " an arm is wrapped around her body, and it is difficult to deny that he enjoys the added warmth of having someone in his bed. a chaste kiss is placed atop the crown of her head. cursed was not how jace would describe their engagement or marriage, but he had not given up the same things helaena had in it. she had put king's landing and her family behind her when they had wed, left behind her mother and brothers to move to dragonstone with him as his wife and future queen far ahead in their future. what had he given up in exchange? nothing, he supposed, and how was that fair?

"it is only cursed if we let it be," he answered softly, tentatively reaching out to place his hand over hers. she did not always like touch, his wife, something he always tried to be careful of and respect above all else, but he was still learning to recognise when she wanted his touch and when she did not. there was plenty of time to learn about one another, and there would be no one closer to him than helaena, no one who would know him better than her. he did not want her to feel cursed by being with him.

he squeezed her hand gently, smiling softly ( and hopefully somewhat reassuringly ) at her. "only we can decide what becomes of us, of our marriage, and no one else can choose that for us." not the queen or helaena's brothers, no matter how much they seemed against their marriage. "perhaps i am not who you wished to have married, but that does not mean we have to be unhappy, or cursed because of it," he assured her. they could turn this into something happy, right?

"them?" otto repeated, quill stopping mid-word as he paused in his work to look up at his granddaughter. he has been a better grandfather than father; however, when he looked at helaena now, all he saw and heard was her mother. "i assume it is your brothers you inquire after, yes?" one a drunken waste, one nothing more than an attack dog, and the last sent off the oldtown to squire years ago now, but he cares nought for them as he does the granddaughter stood before him.

he had done nothing to them, in truth, though there was plenty he had wanted to do in an attempt to knock some sense into the eldest boy. alicent coddles him as a babe still at her breast, he thought bitterly as he lay his quill next to the parchment he had been working on moments before to give helaena his full attention. "i have done nothing to them, certainly not what they deserve for the troubles they bring upon us as they do." he blamed the boy's softness on their father, too weak to father and discipline as one should, leaving him satisfied to have sent the youngest off from such weakness when he had.

"is there a reason you seek them, my dear?" he implored as he rose from his chair to close the distance between them with a soft, grandfatherly smile spread across his lips. later in the evening, he shall impress upon ser cole to take up a harsher training regime for the boy's the next morn as the punishment he knew alicent would not give them. someone must discipline if the king is unable, and alicent will not. "i could, perhaps, direct you better in these matters if i knew the full extent of them."

the south ( the north as lord crow calls it though sigorn disagrees ) was not what he imagined it might be, as it looked and felt the same as the north, except more hostile in ways their home had not been. most of the men on the wall despised the free folk; their disdain for their commander's choice in allowing them through the wall and close remained clear enough for all to see.

sigorn did not blame them for their hate, as he did not care enough to, and plenty of his people felt similarly about the crows and their new commander. it did not matter how they felt, as he had knelt to stannis baratheon when they had been granted passage through the wall, so peace would remain between his people and the night's watch until there was a reason to leave it behind. the thenn are not lawless and crude as some free folk were, and he had no intentions of allowing that to change now that he was magnar.

men outside the night's watch are not meant to live on the wall, but sigorn had no interest in joining the ranks of the men who killed his father and countless of his people. the gods and lord crow seemed to have other ideas for him as well, seeing that he stood before some southron girl ( she is to be your wife, lord crow had said ), a pretty southron girl though she was a far cry from the women he was used to. "you . . . pretty," the words felt thick on his tongue, the language almost unfamiliar to him as it was not the one of his people.
