That's so cool! I think I did see you, I came to the front in case there was a chance to say hi, but left when you all said no :( You got to meet them? That's awesome. I am studying costume design in the School of Theatre, SNL is one of my dream jobs.

That’s so funny that we might’ve run into each other! Yeah Sarah and I were the ones in front of the curtain turning people away. Nasim was so nice though, a couple of kids caught her on the way out and she took the time to take pictures with all of them. And yeah I did get to meet them!! It was amazing, probably the best moment of my life to be honest because I admire them so much and never in a million years would’ve thought that I would get a chance to meet them. They were incredibly nice and friendly. We all got into the room and got to shake their hands and basically right after that Aidy goes “Why don’t we take some pics?” And of course we all enthusiastically obliged.

That’s so cool that you’re studying costume design! The creative arts are always really intriguing to me. I hope you make it so SNL someday! Their hair and costume department is legendary so I wish you the best on your journey to achieving your dream job.

Hey! I was at that BU show too! Do you go there as well?

No way, that’s awesome! I don’t go to BU though. My best friend Sarah is a student manager for ASL (at least I think that’s what it’s called… The people who run the programs for events like that) and because she knows how obsessed I am with SNL she offered to get me in so of course I said yes! I was a volunteer with a fake name tag that said Jill on it wearing a Tonight Show shirt. My job was guarding the reserved seats in the front so maybe you saw me. My best friend is the one who started the show by introducing Slow Kids so you might have heard me cheering like a crazy person haha.

i have never loved the water

but i came in from the elements sun-scorched and mud-smirched so my sister drew me a bath. peacock blue against ivory white of the claw-foot. beaches of tijuana in our mother’s bathroom.

she scrubbed my skin with sea salt and rose lotion. it scoured away dead matter and lifted my shoulders like each limb she held weightless and supported in her hands; the body i so hate to look at turned to something fragile and worth caring for.

i tried to cut my heart rate down to size with pills and cold water. instead she washed my feet, the obvious metaphor of a sororal baptism not to be missed. her fingers tickled between my toes, like minnows.

i flew and floated amidst bubbles and my new soft skin, discovering the kindness of support in liquidity.

no love between the hearts of sisters can be shown better than in the act of washing hair at the end of a day of sweat and tears and too little rainfall.
