At the end of s04e17 - Demonology - Emily, Rossi, Morgan and Hotch are talking after arresting the priest and the conversation goes:

Morgan: I saw that guy up there. He was certain he was fighting against some kind of evil.

Rossi: We all have to be certain.

Morgan: Rossi, don't tell me you believe in evil.

Rossi: Don't tell me you do this job and you don't.

Morgan: I believe there are evil acts, but those are choices, brain chemistry. What do you think, Hotch?

Hotch: I think deep down, we're all capable of unspeakable things. Where it starts or what you call it, I don't know. Let's get him out of here.

And then the Foyet arc starts, beginning with Omnivore, which happens to be the next episode. Hotch, who kills Foyet with his bare hands, but still is considered to be the good one. A hero for his son, as Derek told him once.

I know it might be simply foreshadowing next events, but at the same time Hotch is one of these people, who does bad things for good, who breaks the rules for his team, simultaneously maintaining high standards.

Everyone in the BAU has done some bad things, it's true, but among them all Aaron Hotchner appears to be the most gray. He cares for his family, for his team, but what if he didn't have principles and laws he swore to protect?

Nothing to lose. Nothing to be afraid of.

This man would be unstoppable.

Hotch looks SO hot in this season I won’t be able to recover watching him suffer like that

I just realised that in 9x05 of Criminal Minds when Hotch collapses and he has the dream sequence with Haley and Foyet, the number plate of the car that drops him off at the theatre is 509 905 aka 5x09 "100" when Foyet killed Haley and this episode 9x05 "Route 66". I love shit like this.

GEORGE FOYET JUST KILLED HALEY OH MY GOD THIS EPISODE. no words can describe how i feel about this episode. hotch crying as he says his last goodbyes. him, this stoic man, just going absolutely feral, crashing foyet into the wall, the glass, beating him absolutely bloody even after he died. morgan having to physically pull hotch off, sobbing. hotch hugging haley’s dead body. i might crash out. i cried when he hugged haley’s body hasn’t this man gone through enough.

Hotch was heaving in ragged, shaky breaths as he cleared each room of the house but when he finally caught sight of Haley's feet on the floor, he stopped breathing for 15 seconds
