cole is a mechanical engineering major and the starting goaltender for michigan state. cole comes from a hockey family. the youngest of two, he is the son of a hall of fame nhl defenseman turned businessman and a former collegiate athlete turned national broadcaster. he grew up with cameras in his face and people deciding who he was before they ever met him. his older brother is the golden child, the perfect successor, and is already carving out his own career in the nhl as a defenseman. everyone expects cole to do the same, follow the exact same script and live up to the family legacy. unfortunately, cole became the family wildcard despite being just as talented. thing is, cole doesn’t want it as much as the others. a prodigy who does it for the love of the game more than anything else. now, in his final year at michigan state, cole is stuck at a crossroads. the signing deadline is creeping closer and everyone around him is wondering if he’ll finally make the leap or walk away altogether. truth is, cole isn’t entirely sure himself. everyone assumes he’s scared of the nhl. really, he’s just trying to figure out if it’s the life he actually wants. in terms of personality, cole isn’t loud or flashy, but he’s impossible to ignore when he wants to get under your skin. he always has something to say even if you don’t want to hear it, he doesn’t sugarcoat shit. competitive to a fault, he turns pretty much everything into a challenge. loyal to the people he cares about, even if it’s not necessarily always on display. he likes being in control and hates feeling powerless. he’s the kind of guy people underestimate at first because he doesn’t feel the need to prove himself to anyone. while he may come off as impulsive and easily readable, the guy hides more than he shows and thinks things through before making a move. clever and analytical, he’s wired to solve problems and always thinks several steps ahead. he’s slow to trust and even slower to open up. he’s got a small circle of trusted friends who he’d do anything for. though he rarely lets his emotions dictate his actions, the guy doesn’t back down from a fight and is quite comfortable with confrontation.
