CCAS' biases don't end there, however. As Riggleman notes, its board of advisers includes several Gulf-state elites whose appointments present conflicts of interest with both Georgetown's mission to support objective scholarship uninfluenced by foreign interests and Title VI's objectives of helping secure America's national security. They include Abdulrahman bin Saud Al-Thani, terrorist-supporting Qatar's minister of state, and Turki bin Faisal Al-Saud, chairman of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies in Saudi Arabia. The latter follows another prominent Saudi, Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, whose $20 million gift in 2005 made Georgetown the seat of Islamist propaganda in the United States. Such men thwart rather than help fulfill the original purpose of Title VI.
Examples of thwarting — or, at best, ignoring — the objectives of Title VI funding aren't limited to Georgetown. Research by the Middle East Forum and others shows disregard of Title VI rules among many recipients, including, among others, the University of Texas at Austin, Columbia University, and UCLA. Such widespread disregard for the provision's statutory mandates is inexcusable, not only for its waste of resources but also for the politicized, biased scholarship and teaching that results.
That Middle East studies programs harbor professors who advocate BDS or issue apologias for terrorism illustrates the field's moral and intellectual decadence. That such rot is supported by taxpayer dollars in clear violation of federal law and DoE rules demands immediate congressional and executive-branch action to correct the corrupt status quo. Riggleman's actions should be emulated by his colleagues regarding Title VI–funded Middle East studies centers in their states, with an additional proviso: comply with the law or lose federal funding.
i believe that perfection is unachievable and nonexistent until the minute i’m reminded of the love between sydney sage and adrian ivashkov and im like oh wait! that is perfect.
in my correct opinion enemies to lovers does NOT mean:
- “couple in the same friend group/community that bickers and then ends up falling in love” (ben and leslie are not enemies to lovers PLEASE stop making me read their names on lists of enemies to lovers ships)
- “couple that has a few arguments when they first meet but then they become friends/fall in love”
- “couple that thinks they are enemies for a hot sec but quickly realizes it was all just a misunderstanding and becomes friends/falls in love”
- “couple that breaks up and then fights and the whole reason they’re fighting is because they’re still in love and then they get back together” (im looking at you cassandra clare 😒)
- “couple that kind of dislikes each other for a long time and then ultimately they fall in love” (pride and prejudice is not an enemies to lovers novel im sorry but please stop spreading this propaganda)
enemies to lovers can include, but is not limited to:
- couple that literally tries to kill each other. no half assed “oh i should kill them but i cant” bullshit. they want the other one DEAD. but then at some point they fuck/fall in love
- couple where at least one member genuinely hates the other. despises them. blames them for all their problems. this doesnt have to be reciprocated. then they fall in love or fuck or whatever.
- couple that used to rly hate each other and they meet again and still have unresolved shit but they fall in love/fuck.
- couple where one person thinks they are in love but the other person thinks they are enemies. this is some top tier shit.
- bonus points on that last one if the person who thinks they’re enemies is pretending to be in love with them (daniel and emily in revenge, for example)
grey areas include:
- friends to enemies to lovers
- lovers to enemies to lovers
- friends to lovers to enemies to lovers to enemies to hatesex to friends with benefits to lovers to enemies to lovers to “can’t be together because god will smite us down” to lovers to “can’t be together because we won’t be able to build successful careers or some shit” to lovers (ok im sorry i know this is actually just chuck and blair but i couldnt leave them out)
some True enemies to lovers ships which live permanently and passionately in my heart:
