SHE IS QUIET as she steps from the bedroom, the gray blue skirt of the dress just barely wisping against the floor. their was a look of worry upon the woman’s face as she fiddled with the middle of her dress.   “ are you sure about this, poe? ”   eyes raise to him as he stands in the middle of their living quarters, looking to him for some sort of solace. 

it was the first night all of the senators would gather together since the formation of the new republic and it was the first time they would take on the political scene as a couple. that was what worried her most. would people approve of her? an ex-syndicate member who had a track record? what would they think of her...what would they think of poe for being with her?

feet push forward until she reaches him, hand shakily reaching out.   “ we can just stay in. order food, ”   the woman begins before muttering,   “ i look silly in this dress anyway. ”

“ So you’re ‘the master’ I’ve been told about, ” Rey posited curiously, eyes glancing from the BB-Unit ( who had definately not said master, but she wasn’t sure how well the pilot would take such informal address; people were weird about droids sometimes ) towards the pilot who had been introduced as Poe Dameron only seconds prior. “ You have no idea how badly BB-8 wanted to get back to you. You must really inspire a sense of loyalty in him ! ”  She couldn’t blame him for that, Rey had never seen a real resistance fighter until now --- but if she had been forced to conjure one up in her mind, she was pretty sure that they would look like Dameron.

𝐒𝐇𝐄 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐅𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃 𝐀 𝐇𝐎𝐌𝐄, 𝐅𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃 𝐅𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐘 --- but as the war was over now, the resistance now packing up. Those who would track out remaining First Order cells did so under the Republic Banner now, those reestablishing the Republic were on their way to neutral ground to do so. The various rebels, like her that weren't enlisting in the Republic Army, were making plans to head home... and after feeling so safe and confident in her found family on Exogol, Rey now felt lost and unsure of her next steps.

𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐃𝐈𝐃 𝐒𝐇𝐄 𝐆𝐎 𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐌 𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄 ?  Back to Jakku ?  No. She couldn't go back there. There was nothing there for her now. Ach-To ? She couldn't hide away from herself. These thoughts swirled her mind as the rebels crowded the canteen one last time before they all went their separate ways starting the next day. Was this really going to be goodbye ?  It was hard to feel the joy everyone else seemed to feel when she was scared that her friends next to her, calling out her name in song and trying to coax her to dance, would be exiting her life at dawn.

    weeks and weeks had gone by since she had last seen the rest of the group, having gone off to get any sort of supplies that nesota could get her hands on. she went to all the different corners of the galaxy and scrapped the most random pieces together ; but the woman was growing tired of traveling and her ship was filled to the brim of items. plus, there were some people that she really wanted to see back at their makeshift base.

     but as she moved through the streets of the underground market, her presence caught some people’s attention - the first order. nesota was a known affiliate of the resistance and a big target for the first order. feet carried her swiftly the other direction until she could turn and make a run for it down the alleys. quickly she ducked down in a corner and pulled out her communicator, immediately trying to get ahold of the one person she trusted.

𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐂𝐀𝐌𝐄 𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐎𝐅 nowhere and yet held such meaning and power that for a moment Rey could feel her breath unable to escape her lungs. With force she whirled around, staring at the man in front of her as though it was the first time she’d ever seen him; so full of curiosity. ❝ --- That’s not something you just say lightly, Poe. ❝ Her voice was barely above a whisper, not trusting herself to actually form a proper sentence. He’d caught her completely off guard with his comment. Where did this come from? What was going through his head that moment? Rey struggled to figure out what all of this meant, wondered about the seriousness and the meaning of it all.

It was her turn to take a step, moving closer toward him. ❝ --- If this were serious, then please know that if I were to marry anyone, it would be you. ❝ No, she didn’t believe he actually meant those words. Of course they cared for one another but it was all so fresh. The same time it felt as though she’d always known Poe Dameron. It was with him that she felt at home; it was him that she found herself finally feeling as though she was the person she’d always been meant to be. ❝ --- You and no one else. But where is this coming from? ❝

It couldn’t be the excitement of the case they were working on as this was hardly the first time they’d been in an intense situation. Oh, by now countless times had passed in which Rey had worried if they’d even make it out. With him by her side she could do anything; the world was theirs. And at the end of the day there was nothing but love and trust for the man.
