CULTURE NIGHT BELFAST 2016 #cnb16 - see more photos here : https://flic.kr/s/aHskE9XQz1 Culture Night Belfast happens once a year toward the end of summer, it always boasts a wide array of arts, music and culture events and better still, they are all free! This year they introduced a lot of food into the mix...feeding 5000 foc. This was my first year attending. Working in the Heart of the Cathedral Quarter makes it all that more exciting as you you witness the build-up first hand. So I talk a walk around, I had an idea of the things I wanted to see, but to be honest I was overwhelmed by what was on offer. I got a bit lost in the magic and walked around aimlessly just soaking it all in. Everything from art displays, to live music, parking lot raves, to outdoor wrestling. There were brass bands and street buskers, children's parties to extreme sport demos... this list was endless and I didn’t even make it to the 6 things I highlighted in my booklet. What was amazing was the spirit of people attending. So many people, so many like minded people, everyone peaceful, everyone positive, everyone smiling. Closed roads allowed crowds to flood the streets of the cathedral quarter to party and dance as they saw fit. Families were in abundance taking part in line dancing and Mad Hatters Tea parties before the evening opened up to bars and nightclubs, live music and incredible parties. I think its a strong case for a few of the roads around the cathedral Quarter to be closed to cars permanently or at least on Friday and Saturday nights. Make it a pedestrian zone already, because it brought out a wonderful side to Belfast and one that I am excited to see again next year.
