This is a drabble expansion of a reaction I wrote here.

Jonghyun was gifted with an easy smile and pretty much accepted by everyone as an all around great guy. He was friendly and willing to help the younger guards learn the ropes. Also proficient in Judo it wasn’t uncommon to see him training anyone who was willing to join him on the mat. He was laid back and didn’t take things too seriously. Well, mostly. There were two things he was very serious about, some might even say intense. His job as a bodyguard and you.
“Don’t say no, just think about it first.”
You raised an eyebrow. “That’s not a good way to start a conversation.”
“No, really, hear me out.” He bounced a little on his toes, practically vibrating with energy. “I want to take you out on a date.”
Your mouth dropped open and he held up his hands. “I know, I know. This probably shouldn’t have happened. I’m your guard but I can’t help what my heart feels and I don’t care what anyone has to say about it, other than you. Please. Go out with me.”
You tried hard not to be swayed by his eagerness and how it made your heart flutter to think he was this excited over you. He always went all in on something he was passionate about. While he was bold, he wasn’t impulsive. If he wasn’t certain he wouldn’t have asked.
“I don’t know. I mean it’s sudden and it might not be a good idea…”
“It’s ok. I know I kind of sprung this on you. But think about it, ‘cause I’m going to ask again tomorrow.” With a wink he left to go about his day now that he’d turned yours completely upside down.
Of course you’d been attracted to him. He was considerate and took good care of you on duty and off. Who wouldn’t fall for his kind, honest nature? Sorely tempted to accept you had to think about the repercussions first. Would this mean a change in dynamics? Would your other guards cry favoritism? What if it didn’t work out and things became awkward? You’d lose your best guard as well as someone whom you’d become quite fond.
The next day he asked again and you gave him all the reasons for your hesitation. He shrugged his shoulders, seemingly unconcerned. “You’re thinking of all the reasons it could go wrong. What about the reasons it could go right? Let me deal with any fallout from the others. We only have one chance at life. I’ve got to be true to myself and what I want. And that’s you.”
Well, no one would ever accuse him of being subtle. In the end it was something else entirely that made you decide to take the plunge. It hadn’t been your intention to eavesdrop, the guards’ rec room was simply on the way to where you needed to be. As you approached you overheard someone make a salacious comment about you. Revulsion welled within your gut but the sentence was barely out before you heard sounds of a scuffle and a loud smack.
“If you ever say anything like that again I will make it my personal mission to end your career.” Jonghyun’s voice was sharp until you heard it drop down to a threatening growl. “Go ahead and try me. You won’t even be able to clean toilets here.”
Frozen in shock you were nearly barreled into as Jonghyun stormed out of the room. Seeing you brought him up short but he quickly averted his gaze and brushed past.
There was a place you knew he liked to go when he needed to get away from everyone else. It was out back with a view of the river behind your property. Clearing your throat to announce your presence he glanced over then away when he saw it was you. “I’m sorry you heard that.”
“I’ve heard worse.” Coming to his side you picked up his hand and inspected his knuckles. No broken skin, but there was some swelling. You applied some ice wrapped in a towel you’d stopped to pick up along the way.
Grimacing he tried to pull his hand away. “You don’t need to do that. I’m fine.”
“You didn’t need to defend me either.”
“Yes I did. What he said was disgusting, let alone it being about you. What else was I supposed to do?”
“The fact that you’re even asking that question speaks of your character. You’re a good man Lee Jonghyun.”
Humbled by the praise he muttered a soft thank you adding, “That’s all I’ve ever really wanted to be.”
“So, ask me again.”
The abrupt change in the conversation gave him pause and he blinked a few times. “You mean ask you out? Don’t feel obligated to go out with me just because of what I did. I’ll always protect you whether you choose to be with me or not.”
Charmed by his words you leaned in and planted a swift kiss against his lips. “Silly man. Ask me again.”
Just like that his enthusiastic grin had returned. “Would you please go out with me?”
Yonghwa – For him it would depend a little on the situation. If he’s just gotten back from being away and feeling restless he’d wake you up. Yonghwa would be starved for your attention so your attempt at catching a few winks is not gonna fly. But if the two of you were worn out from a day of fun together he’d let you rest. It would make him feel needed and wanted if you were comfortable enough to fall asleep with him as your living, breathing pillow.
Jonghyun – Jonghyun has a huge tender heart that’s difficult for him to express sometimes. But this would allow him to look at you fondly, stroke your hair, and be thankful about having you in his life. Something like this would really appeal to his protective nature as well as his personal sense of masculinity. No matter who you were, age, or size, if you curl up and sleep soundly against him it’d awaken that instinct of sheltering you from any harm.
Minhyuk – Romantic that he is, of course he’d love a moment like this. But more importantly he deeply craves this level of intimacy with another person. Not just physical intimacy but emotional and mental as well. He wants and needs all of it if he’s going to be happy in a relationship. So you feeling relaxed enough to fall asleep with him would speak volumes more than you could ever say about how comfortable you are with him and it’d encourage him feel the same way.
Jungshin – As kind and giving as he is, Jungshin doesn’t offer his heart lightly. If he’d been teetering on the precipice of falling in love with you, snuggling into his side would push him right over. This would instill a sense of belonging for him. It’s a done deal, you’re one of the people he’s let inside and you won’t be going anywhere soon if he has any say about it. You’ve effectively moved from the ‘them’ to the ‘us’ circle in his life and he will cherish you all the more for finding your way in.
