Oh it's six miles from Bangor to Donaghadee by National Library of Ireland on The Commons Via Flickr: Ballymagee Street in Bangor, County Down on a fine day with an omnibus complete with destination plate to put our location on the map, so to speak! Ballynoe Stone Circle, Ballynoe, Co Down

The Ballynoe stone circle is a large circle of over 50 standing stones, some as large as 2 metres high and is located near the town of Ballynoe in Co Down. #OTD in 1839 – John B. Yeats, painter and father of William Butler and Jack B. Yeats, was born in Tullylish, Co Down.

He is probably best known for his portrait of the young William Butler Yeats which is one of a number of his portraits of Irishmen and women in the Yeats museum in the National Gallery of Ireland. #OTD in 1803 – Execution of Thomas Paliser Russell in Downpatrick for ‘high treason’.

Born in Dromahane, Co Cork to an Anglican family, Thomas Russell joined the British army in 1783 and served in India.
