fingers wrap around her wrist, firm at first, then loosening. they've been doing a lot of this. not just the hooking up, but the staying over. sleeping the entire night through and slipping out the next morning to catch a class. it's not a good idea, and yet, as time has gone on, it hasn't taken much convincing for her to stay.

hesitation stills her until he speaks and she can't deny the way she melts into his words. the mattress dips beneath her as she crawls back towards him, slipping under the sheets to press against his warmth.

"you're becoming a spoiled man, did you know that?" her lips drag soft kisses against his jaw and chin, then teeth nipping as if to emphasize a point. "you ask me to stay, and i do. you ask me to come---" shoko smirks in the dark, mouth parting, teeth biting down harder on a patch of skin, salty against her tongue. "and i do." she whispers, detaching. she presses her face into the crook of his neck, breathing him in. "what else are you going to ask of me, @co11apse ?"

The young girl is curled up within herself - knees tightly held against herself and her gaze is at the floor, leading one to think that just maybe there was something interesting happening down there ... but there wasn't. Nanami's voice pulls Sakura from her pity party enough for her to turn her gaze up towards him. "I just feel so weak, all the time. All I ever do is get in everyone's way," she sighs. A hand drops from its hug around her knees and she begins to draw nondescript doodles with her index finger onto the ground. "I'm smart and understand everything in class, but when it's time to use it in real life ... I can't..."

Utahime sneezed the moment Nanami draped the blanket over her shoulders, her body shivering. The feeling of being stuck in a freezer was not far off from how she felt. The heat was cranked up as high as it could go, and yet she still felt cold.

Sick. She's had barely gotten sick before. Her stomach was hurting but it wasn't anything to the point of sending her to the hospital. It was just a common cold, she kept telling herself over and over.

It started with a headache. Then, a day or so later, the hot and cold flashes came without warning. One moment, her body felt like the sun was inside of her, melting her from the inside out. The next, just as she was changing clothes to ease the invisible flames that burned her skin, everything began to feel like a Siberian winter—harsh and bitter, as if someone had just buried her under the snow.

Eventually, after a week of dealing with whatever consequence of actions she could barely remember, she called the only person who seemed readily available for her. At first, she really didn't want to, out of fear of feeling like she was bothering the blond man, that he more than likely had more important stuff to take care of, that seemed to be the complete opposite.

"You seriously—" Iori cuts herself off with a cough, then lets out a groan like she had just died and came back to the land of the living. "—you seriously didn't have to come all the way out to Kyoto just to take care of me..." Her voice was devoid of her usual normal tone, replaced with something that borderlines deadpan and dryness, it hurt to talk with a sore throat but she still manages to anyway.

She reaches out for the hot mug filled with earl grey tea and honey, the sensation warmed her hands almost instantly, seeping into her skin and no longer making her fingers feel raw and brittle. The sorcerer took a slow sip, eyes closing in the process. The pleasant feeling of honey soothed the rough and scratchy ache in her throat. This was exactly what she needed and she made no effort to set the mug down anytime soon, only pulling it away from her lips when she had finished. "...But thank you..."

Rightfully so, Utahime was very caught off guard by the sudden gesture. Honeyed brown eyes were wide and she was rendered speechless for a long while. It was as if her brain had short circuit then began to factory reset. "For me?" The question was barely audible, like it were a rare occurrence that she ever got something as nice as a flower. In truth, it certainly was the least expected gift. Sure, her students would bring small trinkets back for her whenever they were sent to deal with curses in other prefectures or other areas but a flower? Never.

There was snow here and there on the ground, remnants of what would soon be gone within the spring months, it was still unfortunately rather cold but Utahime didn't mind, she managed to keep warm anyway. The flower presented to her was a bright red camellia and she loved every ounce of it. How it practically matched her uniform she always wore but wasn't at the moment. It was her off day and the two of them had plans to hang out so she dressed appropriately for the cold season and still found a way to match with the flower, wearing a bright red bow in her hair. "...You didn't have to—" for once in her life, Utahime Iori was genuinely at a loss for words. She didn't really know what to say, like words couldn't necessarily express the gratitude for such a precious gift. "Thank you, Kento... It means a lot to me, you have no idea."

her sleeves are tied back, length held by ribbons. her hands are stained red with paint, bled onto the skin. this stain looks familiar, they just lack the warmth to be real. she's meant to paint the wood that replaced the rotting parts of the railing, already shaved down to shape. instead she stares, feels the way it slips between her fingers. it's something raw inside her igniting, like she could feel the flesh tearing from her pretty face again.

an unsteady hand dips the brush and begins to stain the wood, the paint is thick and dares to drip off the curved surface. her hand catching it instead. the sensation worsens, the sun on the back of her neck warming her gut in something sick. she wipes at perspiration forming across her features with the back of her hand only to spread red.

when @co11apse speaks her head turns quick, hair spilling across her back like oil. she swallows past the thickness in her throat, unmoving from her crouch. “ nanami. ” she speaks, collects the trembling notes of her voice. “ no, it's alright. ” the purse in her features melting into something unreadable instead. she's working to hide the moment of vulnerability he'd caught her in.

“ the paints too warm. ” kyoto's heat wave and summer sun melting it in the backroom of her family's shrine. she slips the lid back onto the old paint can. she stands then, brush clenched in something paint covered. “ i think it's no good. ”

Blur of soft cherry pink and Jujutsu High navy blue descend from above combined with a shouting cry, "Shannaro!". Fist collides with the body of the spirit with echoing ripples of her cursed technique reverberating through the earth that rises up in uneven patches of dirt and concrete. Sakura's body wobbles to each side as it rises up and stands straight once her feet get proper footing in the middle of the crater. She emerges with a gleeful smile upon her face. The first year raises her hand in a casual saluting gesture, "I couldn't let you have all of the fun, Nanami-san."

BLOOD was a scent that Utahime rarely became accustomed to. The metallic, coppery tang that stuck so well to the back of her throat each time she unintentionally inhaled too deeply. It made her nearly vomit as if something had forced her mouth open and pressed two fingers father than she could handle. The smell brought violent memories forward, echoes of her own screams rattled within her mind, images flashing of a part of her childhood she fought so hard to forget while she walked through the semi vacant building.

It was an old factory, one that hadn't been used in years, maybe nearly a decade if she had been remembering correctly. It had been her job to scope out the area, nothing too extreme but she hadn't come alone, they wouldn't allow her to. "Too weak," they claimed, but not in that way—no, that would've been too bruising, too harsh for her to handle.

This wasn't meant to be hard, it was meant to be something quick and easy but they had lied, they always lied. It was a violent experience; raw and visceral, curse after curse continuously appeared emerging from a pool that was nothing but a bottomless void of black. She was tired, her breathing uneven, lungs burning. Utahime felt sick, bloodied hand pressed against the rusted wall that soon slowly slid down and left a trail of red liquid.

Separated. She couldn't believe it. The moment they had set foot into this place everything had gone haywire and somewhere down the line, she had been stupid enough to get herself hurt and all she could smell was that nauseated aroma that made her brain want to explode. "Low curse activity my ass," she muttered bitterly, groaning softly when planted herself down on the dirty, more than likely mold covered ground. She swore she saw a roach or two crawl across the floor and that was enough to make her cringe. "This was such a stupid idea."
