Rifts Session Summary

The party goes to the manor. It’s in ruins as one would expect from 400 years exposed to teh elements. It’s on the confluence of ley lines.

“Huh. Magic.”

They go to the basement. Find two snake people. Spray them down with laser guns without asking questions.

They find the magic ritual room. It’s full of snake people eggs. They take a bunch of ancient occult books, then use magic to smash up the eggs and the rest of the books into a pile of MDC acid.

They decide to rest at the ley lines.

1/100 chance of an event.

They roll it.

1/20 chance of a Rift.

They roll it.

They wake each other up and drive away as fast as they can before something comes out. Decide to make a tired drive back to Hillcrest.

Which means that instead of arriving the morning after the Coalition Raid to capture the Purple Wizard, they arrive DURING IT.

MISSILES AND LASERS EVERYWHERE. SKULL POWER ARMOR. THE PURPLE WIZARD FIRING LIGHTNING IN THE SQUARE.

They park their cars on a ley line and get ready to drive, opening the door to let the wizard hop in.

Well, Mars doesn’t. They fuck off because they aren’t stupid.

The Purple Wizard arrives, shoos them to leave, and teleports away along the ley line.

The party zooms off, coalition power armor on their way as they weave through the ruined highways. One of the coalition soldiers crouches down and fires a sticky grenade at teh car. Pugs sees it, telekinesis it off. KABOOOM onto a tree.

They get away, listening to decrypted Coalition radio communications.

They’re the merchants. The merchants were undercover coalition assassins. Including Mars’s vampire girlfriend. Oh No.

They get called. Everyone knows that everyone knows. Col Austin Redfield says that he’s still willing to give them good coalition credits to take dangerous magical artifacts off the wilds.

The party hangs up. They’re going to drive to Solomon, try to get paid for the magic books they recovered.
