Sphalerite!

I finally designed a LEGIT Stevidot fusion. Because this one is cheating and also a Gem Ascension spoiler. 

Mind you, this isn’t the final product. This is my preliminary design. Pretty sure the clothes are as they should be - hair and skin (and maybe visor) color I’m not decided on yet.

@thedemonavatar helped me pick a name because I was of course compelled to be DIFFERENT, DAMMIT and didn’t want to use Tourmaline, which is the most common name for Stevidot fusions others have made. Also nay to Citrine or Watermelon-anything.

Here’s some sphalerite for reference:

So... lots of colors to choose from, surprisingly, including ones close to Steven and Peridot’s signatures.

I’ve seen the scheme of pink and neon green be utilized in so many ways, I just inherently knew there was nothing I could make that would stand out or be even remotely memorable. It’s all been done. Heavily-focused yellow/red/orange has also been done a lot.

So Ig suggested another direction: focus on a color scheme based on what happens when you actually mix pink and green together. Gray is that - I know from experience with varying shades (namely making the shade of pink redder) you can get a lot of muddy browns as well. 

I’m gonna go for Steven and Peridot’s natural hair (dark-dark brown and light-light chartreuse) colors in a mix. The gradient is just a placeholder. So one color’s gonna be be dominant/base (leaning towards Peridot’s being that) - the other will be for highlights and shading and whatnot. I’m thinking of being whimsical similar to my other “Stevidot” fusion with swirls and shit, but I’m not sure how to pull that off just yet. Hence why this is still a WIP.

One thing I’m sure not a lot of Stevidot fusions do (because I’d remember them if they did) is have a certain motif... namely, cats.

For different reasons, they both have a thing about cats... so I decided it’s only appropriate their fusion be CAT-BASED. The car ear-shaped hair buns well represent Peridot’s angular edges in a sea of curly locks. I was basing it on something like this:

What’s even trickier than design is how to make a Stevidot fusion’s abilities distinct. Because being the Silver Surfer with a shield is just too awesome to pass up. And my Stevidot fusion has a unique sort of problem when it comes to having a consistent set of abilities. XD

Obviously I gotta go with cat stuff in some aspects. Part of me also wants to have Sphalerite move about liiiiike... this:

Yeah, like, hopping across the air with star platforms appearing for Sphalerite to boost herself for attacks or just scamper across the sky.

idk. Still a rough draft. I have decided my last “official” Stevidot month story should be about this fusion, though! So there’s that to look forward to, I guess. :P
