Cobblestone District Growing - Club Planned for Illinois Street
The revitalization of Buffalo's historic Cobblestone District can be seen in this vacant commercial building at 49 Illinois. When this structure was purchased by current owner Roger Trettel it was homely and chipping paint. Today, it is a clean and attractive brick exterior accented with deep red doors and windows. And soon it will be a club playing live local and national music at least 5 nights a week open on event nights. The yet-to-be-named club will be able to hold 800, create a removable front door to be open to the street on beautiful Buffalo nights, and have a partial food menu courtesy the staff at neighboring Lagerhaus 95.
This will be just one more addition to one of the most rapidly revitalizing areas of the city. Along with Lagerhaus 95, this club will join the ranks of the Cobblestone Bar, Elements Bar and Grill and Helium Comedy Club. It is within quick walking distance from Canalside, the future HARBORcenter, First Niagara Arena, and the Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino. It will also be a destination along the 'Cobblestone District Connector Initiative' championed by local investor Sam Savarino. Trettel also was a purchaser in the recent the $4.4 million Holiday Inn on Grand Island.
