A Surprise for Hector (English Translation) (Part 1)
Coco Question
Yes we are back with more from the Land of Coco!
I’m not apologizing for my Coco dumping I am just too far gone to be rescued at this point.
And again if you haven’t seen Coco this is a spoiler question, so what are you still doing here, GO SEE COCO! Then come back here and lets discuss!!
Alright so here’s my thing this time. I have watched all behind the scenes, watched the movie over 30 times now, and have read through the book and I still don’t know the answer to this question.
The only last resort I have is either A. ask the writers on twitter, that is if they have a twitter or B. watch the commentary, which when i do eventually do that I will probably go back and either delete this post or edit it.
Until I accomplish either of those things I really hate trashing on the Pixar Animators because when they add in a detail my gawds do they add in a detail.
From expressions of horror
To bangs bobbing when they are suppose to.
They animate like no bodies business and they do it amazingly.
But i really think they were lazy when it comes to this.
Alright so remember Hector’s Frida Costume that we first see
So we get it he wants to look like Frida and he makes a very convincing Frida. We all know though that the costume didn’t work and is obtained by The Department of Relations authorities and that they don’t give it back.
Okay so that’s a fact and we can accept that.
Hector apologizes to Ceci for losing the dress and Ceci is of course pissed because now she has to make another one.
So after they leave the rehearsal area, Hector and Miguel arrive at the plaza theater and preform then separate, right?
Right, but Hector knows where Miguel is going so all he needs is a costume to get into Cruz’s party.
But wait where in the world did he get the costume.
No, seriously really think about it, where did he get it?
Sunrise is coming and as soon as Miguel meets de la Cruz he’ll leave, Hector knows this so he knows he doesn’t have a lot of time. Both the Department of Relations and Ceci’s warehouse are too far away for him to go to either, plus Ceci wouldn’t give him another costume cause then she would have lost two and if even if Hector went back to the Department he would have to sneak in take the costume then sneak back out.
There is literally no time for that.
So here is what I think Hector did.
After he losses Miguel he goes back to the backstage of the competition and puts together a Frida costume by whats left around. In the book they talk about how after the competition every thing was just left there, so if that’s the same in the movie, then Hector could have easily thrown something together especially if he kept the unibrow on him. That’s easy for him to keep cause it could have stuck to the inside of his jacket.
The only problem i have with this theory is that there really is no reason why the Frida costume would look the EXACT same as the first one. The top alone should at least be different but no it’s the exact same costume, this time he’s just missing the jewelry.
I really think the animators didn’t want to create a whole new Frida costume plus when he shows up to the security guard the animators wanted the audience to know it was Hector and not Frida so they used the same costume as before.
But they just skipped over on how he got the same costume as before and it kinda ticks me off. But then again this is all just me and I haven’t looked at all my options, the answer might be just in front of me and I don’t see it. So what do you all think of this? Where do you think Hector got the costume, please message me about it or comment on this post. I wanna talk about it ‘cause I really love talking about this movie! Alright guys my next post should be about the book so I’ll see ya guys then.
Have a great day, everypony!
A Surprise for Hector (English Translation) (Part 2)
I doubt that was the most accurate translation, but I giggled a little at Dante thinking tamales were little slippers made of meat and cheese so I left it in. Also slippers?... Shoes?... Riveras?... It all fits.
Look what just came in the mail!
Amazon spent a long long time seducing me with Miguel and the Grand Harmony after I looked at it once and I finally succumbed, and I highly recommend it!
I know that most people have seen shots of the Alebrije book but I haven’t seen anything about Miguel and the Grand Harmony so Imma put some up some highlights!
Angre
:O
Sad Boy :,(
I love this sad old man, he’s so handsome
It’s Héctor!
Top: Elena Left: Enrique, Luisa, Miguel. Right: Gloria, ....uuuuuhhhhhh, whom, and Manny/Benny? maybe (seriously who are these people they’re not Carmen, Berto, Abel or Rosa.
I think it’s interesting that they but 1917 for the year established instead of 1921. Hmmmmmm.
And lastly the Coco’s, I love how she’s drawn and I love the earrings they give her!
