Late Registration Information (Costume College 2014)
Due to the popularity of this event last year, we are repeating it. Late Registration allows you to pick up available in seats in Limited classes before Costume College starts. Late Registration is open from 7pm to 9pm Thursday night and 7:30am to 8:45am Fridaymorning. It will close early if no more limited class seats remain. You must have checked in before you can participate in Late Registration. Each student can only sign up for one additional class at a time. The class must be paid for immediately and that fee is non-refundable. You must also have the needed supplies with you or be able to obtain them before the class. Student must bring: Wire cutters, large (to excessively large) silk floral bouquet comprised of a WIDE variety of sizes and shape of bloom, themed greenery is also advised, as are smaller floral sprays. [example: 2-3 LARGE focal blooms, 5-8 sprays of assorted midsized blooms and/or greenery, 2-3 sprays of assorted small blooms). Looking at Mucha images before shopping is advised.

Regency or Titanic Era Fur Muff // Lynn McMasters, Gail Nichols //

Student must bring: 1 yard of faux fur fabric (you need to bring your fur fabric pre cut to 18” wide 36” long. The fur pile needs to go down the long ways of the fabric, this is important. You would only need to purchase ½ yard of the fabric if the pile runs across the bolt.) Cut you fur from the backside and only thru the knit fabric and not the pile. You could make a real fur muff but you would need to pre-piece your pelts before class and trim to the 18”X36” size. 3/8 yard of lining fabric 45"wide or wider (silk/cotton sateen recommended). Matching thread. Sewing machine and the usual tools for laying out fabric, cutting and sewing. A spool of Floriani 40 wt. polyester machine embroidery thread for the wrist cord (or a 100m spool of 50 weight silk sewing thread) in a color to match your fur.

Student must bring: Styrofoam head padded out to your head size, this has to be done before class, follow the instruction http://[email protected]/clocheblock.html . Or if you have a wooden cloche block you can use that. 5, 6 or 7 yards (5 for small head size 6 for large 7 for XL) of 1” wide cotton bobbin lace (both sides of the lace need to be straight not scalloped). Your lace has to be in one cut. 2 yards of 3/8” satin ribbon. Matching sewing thread and hand sewing kit with straight pins. Update for Late Registration: Lace will be available for purchase in class at roughly $1/yard and there will be some head blocks available for use.

Student must bring: Student provides 1/4 yard period-correct fabric (minimum 6x18"), 4-5 yards of coordinating ribbon 1/2 to 1 inch wide , and matching thread. Please bring basic hand-sewing kit, and scissors for both paper and fabric. Nearly any sturdy fabric is appropriate; I have successfully used silk taffeta, dupioni, brocade, velveteen, quilting cotton and wool felt. Nothing sheer or "slinky". Our pincushion pieces are about 4" diameter -- feel free to embellish them as you wish before class, but plain is fine too. A traditional pincushion fabric is felted red wool, but any period-appropriate fabric is fine.
