I’m quite late to this train, frantically chasing after it whilst everyone else seems comfortably on board. The Zoeva Cocoa Blend eyeshadow palette has finally joined my little collection. 

Just look at the shades included in this palette - one glance, and it was an immediate yes from me. I know, if you have read enough of my reviews or hauls, I sound pretty impulsive. When I see colours, shimmer, a new makeup product to play around with, the inner child in me squeals with delight, ready to pounce on this new toy. Of course, this isn’t new to the beauty world, but it’s new to me. Let’s begin with the swatches, and then we’ll get on to my thoughts. 

  Bitter Start - this is a very light cream shade, barely noticeable on my skin tone, and not very pigmented. However, this does build up well as a highlight or as a wash over the lids to help with blending. 

  Sweeter End - a shade unlike anything I own at the moment, this is a gorgeous silvery taupe. 

  Warm Notes - a beautiful, super soft and pigmented shade, one of my favourites for sure! 

Subtle Blend - this is another lovely shade that is just as pigmented as the last, a deep bronze. 

Beans are white - a buildable matte black. It’s always nice to have a good matte black. 

  Pure Ganache - your usual gold but a must-have I’d say. 

  Substitute for Love - this one is not very pigmented, but build it up and it can work as a transition shade. 

  Freshly Toasted - a deep, warm chocolate with a reddish tone. Definitely another favourite. It is so easy to blend and looks amazing in the crease. 

  Infusion - black with rainbow glitter, and surprisingly smooth. 

  Delicate Acidity - a gorgeous purple shade that I am yet to incorporate in a look.

  There are a total of ten shades to play with, encased in cardboard packaging. The patterns on the packaging itself is pretty, the magnetic close is strong enough, but many people will be disappointed to see that there is no mirror inside. Personally, this doesn’t bother me. Although I like having a mirror in my palettes, I don’t ever use them. The eyeshadows, from my experience, perform better on the eyelids than they swatch and I have had a lot of fun creating different looks, it’s really a versatile palette that can help you create a natural or a more dramatic, glamorous look. The formulas of these can be quite powdery, but very smooth and blendable at the same time. I was expecting to experience some fall-out but this hasn’t been an issue. 

  Overall, it’s a beautiful palette, and for £18, I’d say it’s worth it. It would make a lovely gift, or a first step to an eyeshadow collection!
