Indulge in the rich and moist goodness of a one-bowl single-layer chocolate cake. This recipe is quick, easy, and perfect for any chocolate lover. With a simple cocoa frosting, it's a delightful treat for any occasion.
Ingredients: 1 cup all-purpose flour. 1 cup granulated sugar. 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder. 1 tsp baking powder. 1/2 tsp baking soda. 1/2 tsp salt. 1/2 cup buttermilk. 1/4 cup vegetable oil. 2 large eggs. 1 tsp vanilla extract. 1/2 cup boiling water. For frosting: 1/2 cup unsalted butter, 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 3 cups powdered sugar, 1/3 cup milk, 1 tsp vanilla extract.
Instructions: Set the oven temperature to 175C 350F. Butter and dust a 9-inch circular cake pan. Mix together flour, sugar, baking soda, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl. To the dry ingredients, add eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Blend the batter until it's smooth and evenly distributed. After adding the boiling water, stir the batter until it is well combined and thin. It's okay; it will be fairly thin. Don't worry. Transfer the mixture into the ready-made cake pan. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean after baking for 30 to 35 minutes in a preheated oven. After taking the cake out of the oven, let it cool for ten minutes in the pan. After that, move it to a wire rack to finish cooling. Make the frosting while the cake cools. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Add the cocoa powder and stir until fully incorporated. Take the saucepan off of the burner and pour in the milk, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar. Mix the frosting until it becomes creamy and smooth. After the cake has cooled fully, cover the entire top with a uniform layer of frosting. This delicious one-bowl, one-layer chocolate cake is ready to be served. Enjoy!
