bit of a rant here, but— it’s actually quite difficult to find black (or just non-white) people in “autumnal/fall aesthetic” pictures online, which i find unsettling and sad but of course not surprising. i had to search purposefully to find someone like Coco, and even then it was harder to find good quality images because I had to be redirected to her (amazing) Pinterest site first.
hopefully, with time and social change, poc can see themselves more often represented in popular aesthetics and trends such as this one. i want to sort of spread awareness w this post but it’s not as blatant of a thing as the whole p*lice issue or the general systematic oppression poc face— it’s a smaller repercussion of those bigger issues, i think.
what i think i’m trying to get at here is that i think it would be lovely for people who aren’t skinny white girls to feel seen while they’re indulging in a season or holiday that they love! like i would absolutely pay to support photoshoots featuring plus sized people, disabled people, people of color, etc. as a white person, i feel empathy for them but i cannot ever begin to actually experience firsthand how they feel about being represented less in popular media.
