Punta Cana, Dominican Republic —
The weather has been really nice lately and summer is just a day away. I’ve been sick for almost the whole month of May and as much as I wanted to get excited about spring, I have concluded that it’s not the season for me. I’ve been coughing for weeks and I’ve had regular visits to the doctor’s. I remember Memorial Day when everyone seems to be out doing something fun, while I was at home trying all the possible home remedies to get rid of this nasty cough. Anyway, it has calmed down and it’s looking like I can finally enjoy this warm weather. Sunny days are here and I am starting to feel the itch to go to the beach. I was just browsing at old pictures and I came across these little treasures from a family vacation two years ago. Last 2014, we went to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
Punta Cana sits on the eastern side of the Dominican Republic, giving you a glimpse of both the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean. The entire coast is full of beautiful resorts offering ocean fronts and water activities. And as with any other tropical island, you are guaranteed a relaxing time courtesy of the nice ocean breeze and swaying coconut trees.
I always try to mix it up when I go on vacation. There are times when I want to venture and explore, but there are also times when I just want to laze and relax.
Once in a while, it’s nice to wake up in the morning not worrying about your list of to-dos.
To live in and focus on the present, this is what vacation allows you to do. You get to enjoy that morning coffee a little longer. You could let the day run its course and be completely okay with whatever you’re doing or not doing. You get to treat yourself with a nice dinner, taking your time because you know that at least for the time being, you don’t have to worry about the next day. Little things that sound so simple but often overlooked.
Punta Cana is a perfect place for this kind of vacation. We had a great time.
