Like, Bale found Reader on a mission, at first he took care of them and he wanted to take Reader with their family, but he became to attached to them, started to make excuses so Reader wouldnt leave etc

He tells Reader that he is trying to get Reader with their family, but he just wants to keep Reader with him

dmitry isn't very sure of who he is anymore.

when he joined the military, it was because he wanted to be good. he didn't really know what being good meant, he just knew that he wanted to be a hero.

could he call himself a hero now? the way you look at him makes him feel like one.

you're curled up at his feet with your head on the edge of the sleeping bag. your stomach is sore from crying. his glove is somewhere nearby, and his bare hand strokes your head. you lift your head to stare up at him.

there's that look.

truthfully, he held onto you because you make him feel like he's good. he feels like a fresh-faced recruit again, and not a man jaded by years of combat and injury. you look at him like he's a superhero.

he found you while out on a mission just ten clicks into enemy territory. you were barely sticking out of a heap of rubble, bathed in soot and ash. when he pulled you out, you, a crying, hurt thing in his arms, he could hardly stand to part with you.

so, he didn't.

dmitry took you further and further away from the small survivor's camp. he cut off his comms. you've been with him for three hours now, and every minute that passes he betrays you. he is damned.

he ushers you to look down when your stare becomes hard to stomach. he wouldn't want to think about his actions, would he? so, he soothes you until you drift to sleep in the corner of a deserted shop. you should be in that camp, but you're with dmitry.
