Uhmm... I was just wondering if you happen to wanna explain the whole Zombified ultimis richtofen thing. :þ

I know its semi because his soul was in Sam's body in the aether... and maxis like ripped him out and put him in a zombie body.

But I thought you'd have some more well explained points on the matter.

💫 Hello, hello, you!! Welcome back! 😌 Get nice and cozy, and we’ll get into answering this question!!✨

💫 First thing’s first, I 100% can see where the confusion is, so worry not, I’ll be your guide!! Second of all- Would I ‘happen to wanna’ explain COD Zombies lore?! Lore questions are like my own personal Christmas! Of course I would, my friend! 🙂‍↕️✨

✨ Our Zomitofen story begins at the end of the Buried map in BO2 and heavily involves the Victis crew! This story beat takes place in the Dark Horse comics run, so there’s not really anything in the games that even talks about this happening aside from one audio log which describes how a zombified version of Richtofen appeared in Ultimis Richtofen’s cell and then vanished, and a throw away line that Ultimis Richtofen has on the Alpha Omega map in BO4! I…Really hate when games do this. As someone who loves lore, I can’t stand when it’s convoluted AND all over the place— But that’s a whole different conversation.✨

💫 In the events of BO2, we play as the Victis crew, who are trying to survive in an apocalyptic world while Richtofen and Maxis basically have a turf war. At the end of this turf war, with the Victis crew aiding him, Maxis ascends to The Aether and throws Richtofen out of it, putting his soul in a zombie body that you can continually kill after the Easter Egg! (You’ll know it’s him because he is the only zombie with blue glowing eyes!!) ✨

✨ The comic run takes place afterwards and also ties into the Primis storyline of BO3 too! Naturally, that means Primis Richtofen is involved somehow. Because he always is.

✨ Primis Richtofen needs the Victis crew’s blood in order to create a paradox, the cycle that keeps his and the Primis crew’s souls alive. To do this, he employs the help of the zombified Ultimis Richtofen! If Zombietofen helps him by herding the Victis crew and pushing them to where Primis Richtofen needs them to go, Primis Richtofen will help Zombietofen get back into his own body, that’s the deal they make.

✨ This is why Zombietofen is seen sending zombies after the Victis crew, he’s herding them like cattle and making sure that the Victis crew go through the portals that Primis Richtofen has open for them. Once the Victis crew is where Primis Richtofen needs them to be, he gets each of them to willingly give a vial of their blood. Then, Zombietofen comes and collects those vials later, returning them to Primis Richtofen once the Victis crew are frozen inside cryochambers under Alcatraz!

💫 Ultimis! Zombie Richtofen HC’s!! ✨

✨ Although he’s acting on Primis Richtofen’s instructions, he is on a power high after finding out he can control the hoard! Finally, he has full power, full control over the undead- Something that Germany’s war Generals could only DREAM of having!

✨ Though, that does come at the cost of his own skin rotting, his own organs turning cold. He orders the strongest looking zombie to give him a shoulder rub before getting down to business.

✨ He has always had a flair for theatrics, and stepping into his role as the villain has never been easier- He doesn’t even have to stop at hair and make up first! He sends the hoard after Victis like a war general demanding that his battalion charge. His sick grin is probably the most genuine he’s ever been.

✨ When collecting the blood vials and meeting up with Primis Richtofen, he gives a bow, Happy to conclude his part in the grand scheme and get his soul back to his body.

✨ Being faced with his unconscious body, it’s the first time Richtofen has felt conflicted about how to move forwards. He won’t be able to control the zombies anymore, he won’t be able to travel so easily through different dimensions. He also mourns the power that he knows he’ll never get back since he was forcibly thrown out of the M.P.D. But, he knows what must be done, so back into his body he goes.

💫 Primis! Zombie Richtofen HC’s!!✨

✨ What he does, he does only to secure The Kronorium. Controlling the hoard, Richtofen can do just that!

✨ Being a zombie, he wouldn’t need to rely on Victis so much, which means he could herd them where he needs them, take their blood and then get The Kronorium himself!

✨ Though, he does miss being inside his own body. He hates how unclean his rotting flesh feels, he hates how disgusting the sticky slick sound of his movements are. He isn’t a fan of being a zombie in the slightest.

✨ Despite his grotesque form, he still does his best to keep himself presentable! He’ll make sure his hair is straight and tug out any creases in his uniform!

✨ He’ll also fight dirty when he has to, using his zombie form to blend in and then strike from the shadows should the need arise!

✨ I know these aren’t too many, but they were fun to think about !! I hope these were good enough to get the ball rolling with more zombietofen ideas! ✨

I have a ~lore question~ if you’re up for it. I really do not understand the official Victis comic. Like, not only where it fits in the timeline - didn’t Maxis destroy the Earth when he gained control of the MPD? Also, if he’s in the MPD why does the horde seem to sort of follow Zombie Richtofen? - but also why Ultimis Richtofen is trying to kill Victis now. It makes sense, they serve no purpose to him now that he’s not in control, but I was wondering if there was like a specific lore explanation. Cheers.

💫 A ~Lore question~?! Who’s been looking at my Christmas list??! ✨ You’ve come to the right place, my friend, I am more than happy to yap and explain these questions to the best of my ability, let’s get right into this!! ✨

💫Sit down, grab a drink, and get comfortable. This is a story of the end of the world, and the start of a whole new timeline! ✨

💫 So, first of all, let’s address where the comic fits in the timeline: The comic is set after the events of Buried! Maxis did destroy the Earth when he was inside the MPD, but going by the backgrounds in the comic panels, and also the fact that you can still play on Buried after completing the easter egg, the destruction seems to be a gradual one, and life seems to be the first thing that Maxis begins erasing.

💫 The other thing to remember too is that dimension hopping is a reoccurring thing in the comic, so there are times where the victis crew aren’t on that same Earth anymore! They end the comic in Alcatraz, for example, which is a pocket dimension within itself! ✨

💫 Next, I…Honestly, that’s a really good point. I have a theory, but I must stress it’s ONLY a theory. When Richtofen was the one inside the MPD, people that ate the flesh of zombies could hear him, likely because zombies themselves are connected to the aether. So, given Richtofen’s connection to the MPD with him recently being inside it, perhaps some of that power lingered somehow, and he was able to direct the zombies that way? It seems to be a plot hole, but there IS an actual reason that he’s there in the first place, so let’s get into that!!

💫 Zombie! Richtofen isn’t actually trying to kill Victis at all! Instead, he’s simply herding them so they go where Primis! Richtofen needs them to go. The comic isn’t too clear on this, but Primis! Richtofen and Zombie! Richtofen had a deal. If Zombie! Richtofen helped Primis! get the blood vials, Primis! would help Zombie! Richtofen get his body back. This is how Ultimis! Richtofen gets revived after the events of Moon, there’s an audio log from an eye witness recounting that event! ✨

💫 Personally, I don’t think the comic does a good job of explaining itself too well. It’s far too easy to get confused- I had to give it another look before writing this up!! I hope this cleared up your questions and thank you so much for asking and letting me yap!!✨
