Amane Nishiki is the missing 0th Prime Field
Hello, it’s me again and I just wanted to share another little crack theory of mine. This one involves my favorite character Amane Nishiki (or as Abyss of the Azure so aptly calls him “Captain Fabulous”)! XD
Anyways, yeah I personally theorize that Amane Nishiki is the 0th prime field that was created by Relius Clover.
1) Amane is, from what we know, a performer, and the entire Clover family have a certain “theatrical” vibe to them. A family of puppets and puppeteers. They all seem to have a sort of thespian feel to them (well, the males of the family anyway). Amane wears a pink kimono which is a bit brighter but along the same shades of red as Relius’ mantle, and sometimes it sounds like in Amane’s Japanese victory quote it sounds like he’s saying something that ends in “Nee-san.” To me, it sounds like “What did you think, Big Sister?” If that’s true, then I feel like he’s passively communicating with the master unit, Amaterasu, perhaps calling her (the girl inside of the unit) Big Sister. This would draw a direct parallel between him and Carl as all Carl wants to do is save his sister, Ada. I say this because in CF it seems like Ada is no longer inside the Nirvana, and Amane seems less interested in Carl because he no longer has that shine in his soul since his sister is no longer inside the Nox, therefore he it feels like Carl’s missing something to the dancer.
2) From gag reels, which are sometimes more informative than the actual story material XD, we’ve seen that Amane is HIGHLY durable. Even to the point of being stuck inside of Arakune, whom is pretty much liquid seithr along with vigorous other trials and has appeared virtually unscathed. This is hinted at again when Amane seems to be, instead of mortified or horrified, entertained by Relius’ astral on him. It makes me think back to the point that the scientists, along with Relius himself, were unable to destroy the 0th unit after it came back from the boundary. Not to mention that Amane and Relius both are the only two of the cast that actually have astrals that affect each character differently. Like the 3 original units, Amane also seems to have an ability that is directly connected with time. Like how the Tsukuyomi unit was made to ‘protect’ time, or how the Susanoo was meant to 'cut’ it, perhaps Amane was blessed with the gift of being able to 'restore’ time.
3) When it comes to character looks, certain things “pop out” about certain character’s designs. For example, very few of the cast actually have blue eyes. And when I say blue, I mean azure. Carl Clover has blue eyes, Noel Vermillion has green eyes, however when she becomes Mu-12 her eyes turn blue, better put they turn… azure. Amane’s eyes look strikingly similar to Mu-12’s. Then we notice that Amane has purple hair. That’s already something I find a bit odd because the only characters I’ve seen with purple hair are Hades Izanami (along with Saya Terumi in case they are not the same person), Mei Amanohokosaka, and her ancestor the Azure Shrine Maiden (and Amane, in looks and dress style, bears a strong resemblance to the maiden).
4) Amane and Bang have the same battle stage “Wadatsumi-jo” which makes one think of the Wadatsumi Mass Vanish Incident, this was also the location were the Azure Shrine Maiden had once sealed away the Black Beast when it was accidentally brought forth. The protection of this land was left in the charge of the Amanohokosaka family for a long time until they simply 'forgot’ their duties. Now, I thought that Amane might just be one of the members that forgot (because something like forgetting responsibility is completely in his lovable nature) due to the fact that his name sounded so similar with the name of the clan. But then I remembered that Amane has many “godlike” qualities, such as being the ONLY character immune to the infamous Slave Red spell. It was said that once the 0th unit had interfaced with the master unit, it became a person, a godlike being. Perhaps, in a similar manner to Noel Vermillion, Amane gained his azure eyes when he connected to the master unit. And the reason why Amane doesn’t have a special 'sword’ like the other known prime fields/murakumo units is because initially, they weren’t created to be weapons. Only the units that were 'all-out weapons’ were the units that came after the 0th unit.
5) Amane is very feminine, however he is not female. And it seems that really only females can interface with the master unit. We know that most of the prime fields were a copy of Saya (we don’t know if it’s Saya Terumi, but it’s definitely Saya Something), but I think that only the 1st-13th units were made from Saya because they go through some pretty strong links to make sure that the gender of the 0th unit is not revealed, while they had no problem identifying the owner of the master unit to be female, a girl. I think that they did this because they didn’t want to outright say that the 0th unit was male, but they wanted it to be so that the 0th unit had the potential to be male. I think that the 0th unit came from a different clan, perhaps the Amanohokosaka clan.
6) Rachel once referred to him as the “Uzume” of the Blazblue world. Now, my knowledge of Shinto mythology is very limited but when Nu-13 summoned the master unit from the Boundary using the HUGE cauldron in the sky called the Nemesis Horizon, it seemed like a similar action to Uzume-no-Mikoto drawing Amaterasu from the cave in Shinto mythology, but that would shoot down the theory I know. But my thought is that Amane isn’t the one who summons the Master Unit to the world, but more so convinces the girl inside the master unit not to rewrite history again, to let mankind decide for themselves how to create the world. This would fall in line with Amane, like Uzume, being the “Great Persuader” and beseeching the master unit to let human free will decide it’s own fate. The current member of the Amanohokosaka family is Homura, whom is guarded by Kagura Mutsuki whom was a desciple of Lord Tenjo (Whom ironically was sealed inside the Rattenjou XD) along with Bang Shishigami. Despite Kagura’s masculine nature, Kagura itself is a feminine name, along with that, “Kagura” was the name of one of the dances that Uzume had taught the world in Shinto mythology. So it would open a little more to explain that Amane just might be connected to the Amanohokosaka Clan. This and Amane and Bang have the same battle stage as of CP (this was previously stated I know).
7) Like Mu-12, Amane doesn’t seem to be affected by Phenomena Intervention, and he doesn’t possess a nox nyctores. He also seems to fully (or at least better than others) understand what’s going on in terms of how everyone ended up inside the embryo as of Centralfiction. And while I do know that there’s still a great deal that hasn’t been cleared up yet, I can’t help but think of it as a little idea (yeah, my head wouldn’t give me any rest until I shared it with somebody), But Amane seems to be very fond of Rachel and actually feels sorry for her for what she’s putting herself through. She’s gotten weak to the point where he “couldn’t hear her calling.” Rachel also seems to be very fond of Noel which might come from her tragic past as an experiment. Rachel also seems to be a bit jealous of Noel because she is able to garner Ragna’s affection (even if she doesn’t want it most of the time because he’s being mean to her). But I digress. I feel like it was Rachel actions that drew Amane to the current state of the world and just how much the Alucard was willing to fight for it. Through her eyes Amane would learn just how devoted humanity is to try and craft the world with their own hands (a goal that even Hakumen could agree with, so long as those creating it wouldn’t be the likes of Relius Clover or someone equally vile). This would directly correlate with Amane being the Great Persuader again. Instead of convincing the Takamagahara system like Rachel, he’d be convincing the master unit itself. I also think that if Amane saw Mu-12 (not Noel Vermillion) then he might have a bit of empathy for her since, like him (in this theory anyway), she was also an experiment. This could also be said for any of the prime fields.
I think that’s about all I’ve gathered and can rationalize so far. I know that it’s REALLY early to have something like this in mind, but I figured I’d share it with you all anyway. I like researching interesting things and I find a lot of the Blazblue world’s “happenings” a little too coincidental. There are still very key pieces of information that I haven’t come across yet, but I’ll find it, and I’ll tweak or change my theory accordingly. But I just wanted to know what you guys might think about it, you know about this WAY more than I do and I wanted to see if it sounded like a decent theory. Thanks for listening to my weird, persistent brain! XD
(Mod commentary: Huh. I didn’t expect this to be so... thorough. I’m genuinely impressed. However, if I may add a couple of corrections?
-We don’t know that the only women can interact with Amaterasu. We’ve just only seen examples of women being able to locate her. This is because only women have turned into the Kusanagi. However, it’s not impossible for a man to do it. Depending on whether you support the “Ragna is a Murakumo Unit” theory, Ragna could very well be capable of finding Amaterasu, if he properly smelted the Kusanagi.
-About the Saya thing. We don’t know the base for any Murakumo Units before 11. (And unless you consider Alpha canon, we don’t really have any idea what any of the units before 11 look like.) They’re pretty clearly based on Ragna’s sister. Nu, Lambda and Noel all have some form of memories of Saya’s, or at least of an attachment to Ragna. Nu’s arcade mode in CT actually shows her interacting with Jin, and being treated like Saya. All of this was happening in her mind, of course. Noel has the most memories of Saya-- she actually remembers Ragna taking care of Saya, although she doesn’t recognize him in the memory. As for Units 1-10, we again don’t really have any information. They could be based on Saya Terumi, but I’m not entirely sure they would be. Plus, Ragna is No.5 of... SOMETHING. Which for all we know could make him Epsilon-05. And I’m pretty sure he’s not based on Saya Terumi.
Other than that though, this was pretty cool! Especially for a crack theory.)
