finished s1 of code geass the finale and lead up to it was beyond messy.

I don’t even need to talk about how stupid Euphemia’s death was. Pointless mess that only served to give lelouch and suzaku  man pain. It would have been more interesting to see how the rebels adapted to her “autonomous zone” plan. Which obviously wouldn’t be true peace but just “a little more rights and still being owned by an empire.”

Also it solidified the fact lelouch’s only goal in overthrowing the empire was just for his sister so he very much is using the Japanese as pawns in his own personal revenge scheme which is very scummy and not interesting. It would be better if he was getting revenge against the regime that killed his mother and actually cared about the people suffering from racism.

I get that he cares about his sister but this s1 ending was just really messy.

There’s a lot of very bad moments too. Before lelouch kills Euphemia he says something like “You were the first girl I liked/loved” (I can’t remember the exact word used but. In Japanese thats kinda the same meaning). LIKE THATS HIS HALF SISTER. they keep dropping terrible shit like this that they don’t need to. You might be able to argue that he didn’t mean it like that but the phrasing really sounds like. romantic love... because clearly if the first person he loved that was a girl non romantically would have been someone like his mom or full sister.

Also C.C. looks to be at least 20 and she kissed lelouch in the season finale and he’s very much 15/16. Which sucks bc. She could have been a fun character if they didn’t keep writing her hitting on fucking children???? like what the fuck.

and like right before this she said “I’m always alone everyone is a memory in the wind” like she didn’t just kill the previous contractor/child she groomed a few episodes ago. like what about Mao? he isn’t, wasn’t , a “memory in the wind” as you put it until you let Lelouch kill him. He was crazy but that was literally your fault too

anyway i’m only criticizing it because I loved this series a lot when I was a teenager and it’s fun rewatching it with a critical lens even if it’s nowhere near as great as I remember.

I know it’s anime but I”ve been rewatching code geass as I’ve said and it’s just very surprising that. C.C. groomed some 6 year old Chinese boy, ruined his life by giving him a power he wasn’t ready for, and then just let the new guy she made a contract with kill him.

she very much said that she was “his mom, best friend, and lover” and i’m p sure after said character 3/4 episode villain arc is over it’s like. never mentioned again.

it’s very messy and I never see anyone talking about it.... not that.. anyone HAS TO. It just feels very overlooked by the show and anyone i’ve seen talk about it.

since I’ve been rewatching code geass I was gonna read the nightmare of nunnally manga and it’s so bad unreadably bad. Not only is the plot bad the manga keeps sexualizing young girls and it’s literally unreadably bad bc of that.

which is a shame bc the idea of the manga could have been good if they weren’t freaks about it. It would have been cool to see a what if situation with Nunnally being in Lelouch’s situation but we got weird pedo bait instead !

Since my last post there was the whole

- Chinese Empresses child bride shit

-We stated s2 and There’s a lot of fan services from mostly high school aged kids.

-more war crimes from Suzaku was about to drug kallen

-can’t forget lelouchs fake little brother with a brother complex. Creepy as shit.

And now there’s a 4th character with missing memory like using that plot 1 time is pushing it 4 is too much

just 1 more code geass post for today I promise.

there was that episode where lelouch was upset the old Japanese regime was trying to gain power again by going to the Chinese federation for help bc...he thought the Chinese would then have some sort of leverage I guess??? I understand not wanting to install a previous regime again but....he kept saying they were wrong and went about it the wrong way but that’s literally the best political move to gain Japan’s independence with a real backer?  And then he tried to team up with Suzaku that episode and the ending was the Japanese politicians were arrested? Felt p stupid.

also the festival episode they said everyone, even the Japanese that aren’t normally allowed at the school are allowed in? What the fuck whose policy is that? 1 day out of 365 the school isn’t racist? That’s fucking stupid. Like REALLY fucking stupid. how do you have 1 no racist day??????
