I was lead instructor for my hospital systems PALS course today and mid class one of my co-instructors and work friend started to show signs of having a stroke and went from stumbling over her words to complete aphasia in minutes. We were off site in a business complex and I called 911 and one of the other instructors who works in the ED called the ED and told them one of their PICU nurses was coming in code stroke. And that is how my PALS class turned into a ACLS scenario.
I’m crazy worried about her - she is intubated in the neurosurgical ICU now as I write this. This was a shitty day.
