👀 + Harry and Amelia (familial relationship)
send me 👀 + a ship ( platonic / romantic / hate ) & i’ll give you 3 headcanons!
Amelia being a child of James and Lily - Harry’s twin sister in general - became a whole lot more real to Harry after he witnessed Snape’s worst memory: taking note just how much Amelia acted like James (even the consistent hair ruffling) and even mistaking Amelia to have entered the memory herself before he realized she had black hair and the female in question had red hair (aka, their mother).
Although it took Amelia a while to ‘accept’ Harry as a brother, when she did it instantly became second nature for her to treat him as the younger brother. While she treats Harry as such, the truth is she is actually the younger twin out of them: Harry was born first and Amelia was born second some few minutes afterwards. The reason for Amelia treating Harry as the younger sibling simply has to do with her upbringing: she had been the older sister to a younger brother for around 6 years and that was all Amelia knew. She didn’t know how to be the youngest sibling.
Despite the cold treatment Amelia gave Harry during their first year of knowing each other, they actually did get on well initially when they first met. It was awkward no doubt - Amelia was still feeling low on the murder of her adoptive family and was struggling to get used to the wizarding world, and Harry was tense, on edge - especially after the whole triwizard ordeal and being coped up at the Dursleys afterwards - though both tried to remain polite to one another. However, it was the shock of the news (that they were actually twins) that caused Amelia to turn a cold shoulder to Harry and avoid him at all cost since then.
