Ground War || Mission 3
Post Order: @thenamesrogue, @detective-jamesdwyer, @gwynxapxnudd, @codenamemalachite
Location: HOPE headquarters
It didn’t look pretty. As Rogue looked at the smoldering remains of the HOPE headquarters, the mutant thought she probably didn’t want to go inside, were it not for the innocent, non-HOPE civilians that were reportedly stuck in the building. Even knowing that fact, Rogue thought she ought to probably be elsewhere. With their headquarters bombed, HOPE was going to go after the school. Her school. Rogue knew this. So why wasn’t she at the Jean School, protecting the students to her last breath?
It was just a matter of where she had been assigned, really. In an odd turn of events, the Avengers and SHIELD were helping the mutants. Sort of. Captain America, SHIELD agents, along with Hank and Dahlia and Aeron, were defending the school. Which meant, hopefully, that Rogue’s students were in good hands, even if those hands had been absent for a number of months when they had been needed before. So Rogue had been sent along to help the civilians at the HOPE headquarters. Maybe to save face. She had attacked HOPE members at the press conference. But hey, they had attacked first.
Whatever the reason, she was here now, and had to focus on the mission, not her students back at home. She didn’t know nearly enough about her team, and hoped everything would be alright. “Okay, everyone,” she said, taking a step towards the building. “We know the game plan. We want to--”
Then the shots rang out, and Rogue ducked down. Turned out HOPE was just waiting for them to get closer. They were taking cover in the rubble, still ready to fight. Rogue looked up over the rubble she had hidden behind, and, eyes glowing red, she shot a beam of energy from her eyes. It hit one HOPE operative square in the face. “Thank you, Kid Gladiator,” she muttered, eyes returning to normal.
