ANY HERBIVORE FAVORITES OR SOMETHING YOU’VE GOT YOUR EYE ON? SHARE BELOW… _______________________________________________________ One of the most effective means for preventing dryness is a good, occlusive sleeping mask. The artificial air emitted by heaters and air conditioners effectively dries out the air around us while we sleep. Left unprotected, by morning your skin can be sapped of a significant amount of moisture. I’m a big fan of Herbivore’s clean, luxury beauty — in particular, the brand’s Phoenix Facial Oil. Phoenix is one of my go-to’s for surviving even the coldest of days. But as temps begin to climb, it’s time to dial things back a bit. And the Herbivore Moon Fruit Superfruit Night Treatment is the perfect option. It’s not too heavy, not too light. Moon Fruit is a blend of replenishing plant oils that deeply moisturize skin. I love that the 1st ingredient is Organic Aloe Leaf Juice — a common skin-soothing botanical with humectant properties. Bravo, Herbivore, for replacing water in the formula with something that has a skin benefit. Next is a slew of nourishing antioxidant oils and butters including Red Raspberry Seed Oil, Shea Butter, and Prickly Pear Oil — one of the most beneficial non-fragrant plant oils used in skin care. While it’s loaded with pro-skin health actives, Moon Fruit isn’t a perfect formula. I don’t love that it’s in a jar — and really don’t love the inclusion of Lavender Flower Essential Oil and Sweet Orange Peel Essential Oil. Neither is beneficial for the skin and both are potential skin irritants. No matter, it’s a wonderfully effective, deeply moisturizing treatment that’s a real pleasure to use. WHAT DO YOU USE TO TREAT CHRONIC DRY SKIN, ECZEMA, OR SEASONAL DRYNESS? SHARE BELOW… _______________________________________________________ As I’ve gotten older, I’ve grown to appreciate richer skin care formulated to address dryness, and in my case, seasonal dryness. I don’t typically have dry skin. I consider my skin to be “normal.” In fact, I don’t really believe in skin types, per se; rather, I believe all skins start out normal and both internal and external factors lead skin to behave differently. You can always restore your skin to a state of normalcy! The key is to pay close attention to how your skin reacts to what you apply. It will tell you everything you need to know. If your skin seems dry when you wake up in the morning, consider the factors that are causing that. Those can include artificial heat or air conditioning that dries out the air around you. Or, your PM skincare routine isn’t adding enough oils to your skin before bed. It might be time to #switchupyourroutine! Essential to striking the right balance is a proper daily skincare routine tailored to your skin’s needs at any given time. All skin types go through seasonal changes. Over the last few weeks, I’ve discovered several really terrific products for combatting seasonal dryness or skin that’s acting dry any time of year. 🎀 W E R B U N G 🎀 VERLINKUNG Von @codexbeauty habe ich ein tolles Päckchen mit Proben zum testen erhalten. Es gab 3 Proben für je eine Anwendung. Tagescreme mit Ringelblume und Hyaloronsäure für eine intensive Pflege. -Superfood für die Haut. Eine Creme für Gesicht und Körper die bei schuppige, trockene Haut hilft. Und eine Augencreme gegen Schwellungen und Augenringe. Ich hab sie gleich mal ausprobiert. Augenringe hab ich nicht, daher kann ich die aufhellende Wirkung nicht beurteilen. Aber etwas geschwollene Augen habe ich in letzter Zeit leider doch mal. Hier find ich die Wirkung nicht wie erhofft. Ich hab ein leichtes Spannungsgefühl und meine Augen sind irgendwie Müde. Auch gleich ausprobiert habe ich das Waschgel mit Peelingeffekt. Es riecht super schön nach Zitrus und enthält klein Schleifpartikel die abgestorbene Hautzellen entfernen damit die Haut frisch und gut durchblutet ist. Erhalten habe ich das Waschgel in einer 30ml Tube, die mit einen Spender versehen ist. So ist das Dosieren super einfach. SEE MY STORIES FOR DETAILS! _______________________________________________________ The Clean, Green Skincare Routine that Michael @haircare.product.ratings and I created needed a rich, nourishing moisturizer to lock in all the natural goodness! Codex Beauty’s Bia Day Cream is certainly rich, but it’s not too heavy and doesn’t overdo it. The first thing that strikes me about the formula is the scent. Or maybe non-scent. If you’ve ever smelled dried flowers, you know what I mean. They’re not exactly fragrant. The Bia Day Cream smells like dried flowers. It’s clean, non-toxic and didn’t hurt any bunny rabbits on its journey to your bathroom sink. So, what about the INCI? Getting past water at position no. 1 one is a terrific botanical oil for skin — Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis aka almond oil. It’s not sexy like Babassu or Marula Oil. But it doesn’t have to be sexy to be effective. Think of Almond Oil as the nerdy, quiet kid who pays no attention to the distractions going on in class around him. He’s just there to learn. Bia Day Cream also contains a high level of Lactobacillus Ferment to nourish skin and break down actives, enhancing penetration into the skin barrier. Ingredient no. 4 is Marigold Flower Extract — oh so wonderfully soothing calendula! In fact, there are few ingredients as soothing as calendula except perhaps Centella Asiatica and Bisabolol — the active component of chamomile. In all, there are 7 botanical extracts and oils here. It’s the perfect option to play the starring role of Moisturizer in the Clean, Green Skincare Routine! WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT FACIAL OILS? DO YOU USE ONE? Comment below! _______________________________________________________ Nothing gets me even remotely excited about winter — the bitter cold, the biting winds. From December to February, I’m semi-comatose. But there are a few sparks of joy in the personal Siberia in my head. One of them is a good ole facial oil — the perfect treatment for sustaining healthy skin in harsh cold air. Codex Beauty really nailed the concept with the Bia Facial Oil. Without meaning to sound too extra, it’s exquisite! The Facial Oil is a wonderful blend of 7 non-fragrant plant oils, including Rosehip Seed Oil, Kiwi Seed Oil, Prickly Pear Seed Oil and Almond Oil. Vitamin E and 3 botanical extracts round out the INCI — one of them being Fucus serratus (Serrated wrack) extract. I just had to look it up! Serrated Wrack is a brown seaweed that thrives above the low water mark on rocky shores. Rocky shores like those that surround Cork, Ireland — where Bia first came to be and where the Blarney Stone is. I know this because I’ve been there. And, yes, I kissed the Blarney Stone! As you’d expect, the Bia Facial Oil is rich, silky, and elegant. It doesn’t feel overly greasy on skin but it does feel like your skin is being treated to something really healthy and nourishing.
