Hi Hi, do you have any tips about world building and or putting ideas for stories down coherently? Altts has been really fun to read and even inspired me to work on my own projects more!
Hi!! Thank you for enjoying the story 🥺✨ It’s such an honor to hear that it has inspired you!!! You have no idea how much it means to me! 😭
I’m no professional but I can tell you just a bit from my experience 🫶
-First of all, I would not expect coherency right off the bat 🫣 you should have seen the first ALTTS draft lol it was a MESS. And that’s ok! You work on it slowly and go from general to specifics. It took the team and I about 3 months to plan it all and we have held several meetings to plan specifics or make last minute changes.
-Take your time building your characters. To me it almost felt like getting acquainted. The more I drew them and worked with them, the more I could predict what they would do naturally. I would recommend to take note of all you have of them 🫶 I personally use an app called Milanote. You have to pay to get full access but the free content has been enough for me to organize my ALTTS info.
-To me, characters in a story are priority, more than the plot itself. So the story should directly relate to them. It’s all about them. Each arc should have an outcome for them and character progress or else the plot gets stuck and slow. For ALTTS I wrote a full timeline of events and under each point I wrote how it would directly affect all 3 main characters.
-To achieve successful character arcs, write where they are at the beginning and where you want them in the end. If you do this, each point in a timeline can represent a step to that goal… some steps can be bigger than others but make sure they work their way there naturally.
Ps: this worked for us and ALTTS specifically but you might need to tweak the method or work completely differently 🫶
Ps 2: we had a head start because of the already stablished Zelda lore 🫣 A lot of the times we were just finding cool ways to give a twist to things that were already stablished. Fully OG stories take more effort. 🫣
