Natural (DIY) Dyeing Using Coffee & Tea
Hello beautiful people! Fun fact: For those who didn't know I have experience as a barista (but not a coffee drinker). While I love the smells of the job, the stained clothes I could live without. Known for its intoxicating aroma, smooth taste, and energizing effect, it's considered as a staple drink all over the world, however the taste isn't for everyone. With access to so much of it I took to Pinterest to find other way to use coffee and tea and could not NOT share the idea of using it as natural dye!
Different types of coffee and tea will certainly yield different colors. Rooibos tea gives a red/orange color, but you can probably get anywhere from yellows to grays to greens to lavenders, depending on the type.
Instructions: Brew your coffee and tea as you normally would, then turn off the heat, and submerge your material for however long you like. The recommended time is anywhere from 1 - 3 hours depending on the intensity of colour you're after. Once done, remove your material every so often to check the colour, ring it out, and rinse the excess liquid off.
I love this idea of using the leftover teabags and coffee to stain some card stock. Do so by squeezing some excess tea out of the teabags, as well as dipping different-sized mugs into the leftover coffee, and pressing the rim onto the card stock.
Don't forget to share & leave a comment if you'd love to try this dyeing method.
