Comparing coffee and wine
In my family of origin, I am considered the coffee guy. I was sitting in Brew Tulum experiencing a cafe Turko talking to another member of my family of origin. He was experiencing a Cafe de Olla, and in the family is considered to be the wine guy. I once worked in the coffee industry and the other guy, my identical twin, works in the wine industry. No surprisingly , my twin and I look the…

The cost of coffee
The cost of coffee It had been over 20 years, at least a coffee wave or two, since I regularly bought whole bean coffee at coffee houses. I was spoiled by Starbucks at the start of my coffee drinking life. Yes, Starbucks was once a coffee company. They sold great varietals such as Ethiopian Sidamo, Celebes Kalossi, Costa Rica La Terrazu. I say spoiled because I received a free half pound of…

Alameda street ....how many memories do I have of going back and forth on this. Good times of going to Coffee Waves, bad times of having to go to the Food Bank. I remember one summer, it being so hot, & in with the food that they gave me was a can of Dr Pepper and that was like nectar of the gods. I had not had a soda in so long, I nearly cried.
Sitting here at Coffee Waves. There was barista here, that looked like Edward Nygma who made a heart in my coffee cup for me. And I came back 5 times looking for him and never saw him again. This was also the last place I saw my friend Gabby before she decided she didn't wanna be my friend anymore. After 7years of going to every Avenged Sevenfold concert together. The minute I told her I had left my husband she didn’t want anything more to do with me.
Ah, life, it’s bigger. Bigger than you and you are not me....
Went to the food pantry today
Which was St. John's Methodist church on Alameda near Coffee Waves (A place I love dearly and can no longer afford to go). I was really emotional driving there, on the verge of tears, unable to believe that with all my work experience, education and the fact that I have worked every day of my life since I was 14, I have come to this place. However the people there were kind and professional. I had no idea what to expect. I filled out an unbelievably short form and was given 3 plastic bags of groceries: 3 cans of tuna 5 cans of vegetables 1 bag of rice 1 bag of beans 1package of spaghetti Spaghetti sauce Tomato sauce 2 cans of soup Apple sauce AND 2 cans of Dr. Pepper ---- which I was very grateful for because it's 105and I forgot to bring something to drink. And I can return once a month for the rest of the year. I have never cooked beans and rice and I really need recipes. Plus our l constant lack of food and gasoline means there is never money for anything sweet so I also need recipes for rice pudding.
