It tackles issues of race, queerness, feminism, and poverty with a skill and gentle hand, wrapping up the things that could have made this into an "issue" book into a journey of self-discovery and acceptance. . . My favorite YA Author, @benjamin.alire.saenz ‘s writing style is amazingly beautiful, without a doubt! The characters here are compelling. Most of all, I loved the underlying theme that love is important whether it's between platonic friends, a couple, a grandmother and grandson, or mother and daughter.
