Magick To-Go!

Hey folx! Today I’m doing some afternoon coffee magick. I have a women’s group meeting tonight with a tarot presenter, so not only do I want to be awake, but I also want some java mojo for a good meeting. I have an entire catalogue of to-go spells, so we’re just barely dipping our toe into this area. More will come, I promise! But to get a few basics out of the way, let’s talk about flavor correspondences. When we’re grabbing a coffee - be it a Starbucks, a restaurant or a gas station - there are a handful of flavors that are almost universally available. Regular coffee - energy; alertness; mental acuity; grounding and earth connections; youth. Chocolate / mochas - projective properties. Luxury; wealth and riches; love and sensuality; joy and ecstacy; friendship; self-love and empowerment; fun! Vanilla - harmony; friendship; a happy and healthy environment; social graces and social  harmony; good fortune; mental stamina and energy; love. Hazelnut - MENTAL and INTELLECTUAL abilities! Focus; memory; psychic awareness; also cleansing and a whole ton of health properties we can talk about another time. If you are writing a report, studying, writing an essay of any sort, doing paperwork, etc. go to hazelnut, or better, CINNAMON hazelnut because this will give you a ton of energy too! OK - THE WORK! This one is super-duper easy: I’m going with a French vanilla latte, to bring in the harmony, social graces and happy, healthy environment that vanilla can produce for my women’s group.  I always order sugar-free (I know, that artificial junk will rot my insides out!) and add Stevia. Use sugar or whatever you prefer. We’re going to use our coffee stirrer at our magickal wand! Raise and direct energy, using your projective hand (I’m a lefty so that’s my left; for you righties, use your right) through the coffee stirrer as you add you r sweetener, or even if you prefer to add nothing. We’re stirring in a pentacle; this would likely cause Enochians to lose their composure completely, but I start at the top, and draw earth down to the right corner, up to the left corner with air, straight across to fire, down to the left corner with water, and then back up to the top with Spirit (deity). Then I encircle this with Akasha (ether; pure energy; the collective unconscious; the Akashic records; the ALL). So stir the pentacle into your coffee three times, evoking the power of Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Spirit (you can name a deity here if you want), and encircling this with the power of Akasha. As you do this, you can chant aloud or mentally, focusing on your desired outcome. Feel free to amend this with flavors and intentions as you see fit - and remember, do what thou wilt and harm none! By the power of three times three, as I will it, so shall it be.

Cinnamon and Sugary and Softly Spoken Lies ...

... you never know just how you look through other people’s eyes ... first thing in the morning, possibly with a hangover, sleep deprived from pulling an all-nighter or almost all-nigher ... we gotta cast a glamour over that and get the brain working! So we’re not actually going to lie. BUT - we’ll get this started with a basic that everyone can definitely benefit from when we’re super groggy and need to get our game on. We know coffee in and of itself will give us energy from the caffeine. Maybe this is a day you need more ... more energy, more motivation, more luck. I get it. A plain old cup just won’t do. Start with your coffee filter. Write three runes, each three times, on the filter: Uruz -  Physical strength and speed, untamed potential.  Freedom, energy, action, courage, strength, tenacity, understanding, wisdom. 

Raidho - CHARIOT! Motion, movement, energy. Dagaz -  Breakthrough, awakening, awareness.  The power of change directed by your own will, transformation. Now just add coffee grounds - you can use whatever you normally brew, or get fancy with a flavor. Keep in mind that each ingredient or flavor will bring something different to the day ... but that’s another post. If you’re not already familiar with such correspondences, then it’s best to just keep it simple for now. If you are grinding your beans, chant while grinding:These beans I grind, by power of mind, bring me STRENGTH! ENERGY! and CHANGE! Now let’s get hot.  Allspice - this herb is a favorite of mine. It’s an herb associated with FIRE so this is sure to help get things moving. Some of it’s magickal properties include:  Money, Luck, Healing, Compassion, Determination, Energy  Fertility ... Take a good, hefty pinch of allspice, and sprinkle this into the coffee grounds in the shape of Uruz, mentally focusing on strength, energy, determination. Cinnamon - another favorite, and likely one I use the absolute most! Cinnamon is also a fire spice. It’s magickal properties include once again ENERGY ... good luck, motion and movement, passion, mental acuity, motivation, and clear communication. This is an herb I use most often in libations to Mercury. Anywho ... Take a good, hefty pinch of cinnamon, and sprinkle this into the coffee grounds in the shape of Raidho, mentally focusing on motion, movement and energy. BE THE CHARIOT! Ginger -  As Herbal Riot writes, “Ginger is energetic and firey and adds power to any magical activity. It is used in spells to “speed things up” or to cause plans to come to fruition quickly.” YES. Also, ginger has all kinds of excellent physical healing properties ... it boosts the immune system and is an anti-viral.

Take a good, hefty pinch of ginger, and sprinkle this into the coffee grounds in the shape of Dagaz, mentally focusing on awakening, awareness, and the power of your own will.

Now shift your coffee filter clockwise a third of a round, and repeat the above with the herbs. Then do that one more time ... you’ve now sprinkled each herb in the shape of each rune three times. Take your athame, or a kitchen spoon that will serve as a magickal wand of sorts, and stir all of this up using the shape of each of the runes Uruz, Raidho and Dagaz - each one again three times - chanting aloud “These herbs I grind, by power of of mind, bring me STRENGTH! ENERGY! and CHANGE! 

Take a moment to collect up and direct all of the energy you’ve raised through this work into the mix in the coffee filter. Place it in your coffee maker and brew away!

Flavor according to your taste - milk, cream, sugar, stevia ... don’t use that fake shit; it’ll rot your insides out! Optional: As you’re drinking this morning brew, put a little lotion of some sort on your face (I use Pond’s Cold Cream for this), under eye bags, places of puffiness, etc. then take the grounds and pack into it. Leave this on until you can’t stand the tingling anymore, then remove with a soft washcloth in small circular motions. This is an amazing stimulating facial - it will wake up your skin, get rid of the eyebags ... you’ll look awake and refreshed! And you’ll feel even better. The effects of the spell should get you through the day, with the energy, motivation, determination, and mental acuity you need to face your tasks.

Coffee Magick

Nearly three centuries ago peace fell on the land where war was constant, the age soon called the Trinity age. Present day a mysterious boy named Viggo shows up with magick capabilities just like everyone else...except he can only make coffee and espresso out of thin air and incapable of using any other basic magicks.
