Belated treat for surviving the full afternoon travelling for an X-ray a few weeks ago. Usually I wouldn't get a play set piece but I have a soft spot for jewelry boxes and it's black and a coffin. I've wanted this one for ages, just needed the right nudge. It came with the doll (glue free) which was a nice surprise.

The lid is very yellowed as is Drac who's lower legs are the only bits that stayed at their original saturation. The upper arms and seams are very yellow. I thought the lower arms were stained but an acetone wipe removed that. The face was mostly grimy but it's faded and slightly degraded to the point where pastel blush seems to be absorbed by the plastic in streaky ways. I'll see how the lip overpaint dries and take more detailed photos later. As cute as she is, I won't be keeping her.

i'm thinking of painting the lid (probably not black as I couldn't get it to match the other black) and adding decoden resin hearts to hide the holes where the coffin rails were, not sure yet.

Draculaura's coffin bed: mods.

I took it apart (but still haven't scrubbed with a brush for embedded dust OTL), as I worked out the different pieces it started to feel like; for display, it would be best separated: the coffin to sit in and on like a tub, and the top part as a low seat but both still able to slot together and stand together if needed.

Turns out I don't have much in terms of black cabochons so i used 4 gold coloured metal shank buttons, 2 black and 2 pink flowers to cover the holes and still look like a coffin not a blinged up decoden item.

I used wire cutters to chop off the knobs on the top of the adjustable posts so it can be removed but still slot together (cutting the lips on the triangle pieces would be prettier, FYI), cut the umbrella holder, slid a knife under the chandelier thing to make the top piece lie flat and reassembled everything with a third of the screws because there are like 20 total.

Then I found two little roses to act as feet so that the top piece can stand alone or stand assembled with the bottom piece (not quite flush but not bad).

I can justify having such a large set item in a tiny display space if there are dolls draped all over it =p
