Coffy, of all ships? That's the one I'm about to cry about at quarter to 4 in the morning?
I mean. This might as well happen, I guess!
"Together, we were Christmas" aka the title of the Cordelia/Buffy fic I'll never write.

I love a lot of the BtVS f/f pairings for Buffy, but one I don't feel like I talk about enough is Cordelia/Buffy (Coffy).
Cordelia reads very much as Buffy's love interest. They bicker and they banter, but at the same time do seem to have a fascination with each other. On Buffy's first day at Sunnydale high, Cordelia immediately seeks out Buffy. They are constantly trying to one up each other, almost as if they're trying to impress each other. It's almost painfully obvious (at least to me) that they're crushing on each other, hard.
They are narrative foils, as well. Physically, Cordy has brown hair and Buffy is blonde, but the differences go much much deeper than that. Cordy's friends aren't really very supportive or very kind, whereas Buffy's friends are extremely loyal and supportive (for the most part).
In other ways they are mirrors of each other. Buffy starts out as the popular girl at school, until she finds out she is the Slayer (read: special powers and a role to play in the fight against evil), moves to Sunnydale (from LA), is no longer the popular girl but instead rather a misfit, joins a group of misfits (some with special powers), and fights evil. Cordelia is the popular girl at Sunnydale high, until she moves to LA (from Sunnydale), and isn't the popular girl anymore but instead a bit of a misfit, joins a group of other misfits (some with special powers), starts getting visions (special powers + a role to play in fighting evil), and starts fighting evil.
And there's certainly lesbian subtext between the two of them.
Cordelia mentions several times that "nobody really knows her", one time (if I recall correctly) in an actual closet! I think the subtext here is rapidly becoming text.
