thank you my friend arceoptryx for introducing me to No Exit.. who also has a post on what divorcesteal is! who we are, the culture, but a lot has changed since january: Check It Out...

but, TLDR, we are a friendgroup—mainly formed out of interest for the lifesteal smp—of creatives who wanted to try out the lifesteal plugin.. you can see some of our creative works based on the server in the tag #divorcesteal

our pvp tactics are more inclined towards riddles, puzzles, finding/messing with bases, operations of grandeur, and other non-weapon combat where we argue through threatening signs and be off-putting with literature references because there's something wrong with us. there's ~30 of us and a good portion of that is active

we got some streamers that are listed in archs post as well but if you want to see Me i do have my own collection of vods but that's.. pretty sparse ^_

right now we're in season 1 and it's ending in two weeks! we started at the end of august and it has gotten worse and worse..

Which one of the characters from lssmp, do you draw the least and the most, in your opinion?

My Piechart....... taken from my art tag so things like my twitter sketches and what not arent included.. counted up by presence in drawing so if they are Mostly distinguishable they are counted, but if they are there multiple times it is only counted as 1 (presence in animatics are counted as 1 as well)

as i was adding these up mapicc was ahead of everyone by around 10 drawings, but in the end he and zam were only one away

Okay I'm caving all the lifesteal fanart you put on my dash looks sick as hell where/who do I start watching lmao

yesss ... the evil art tricks to get people to like lifesteal worked....

it's not the easiest thing in the world, most of the art you see that's recent is not going to be in a full video for a good long while

though, there are plenty of videos out there, here is a good list of most of them... it hasnt been updated in a fair minute but it does have 500+ videos! here is a season 5 specific playlist for some of the videos missed

the people i would recommend the most for storyline-esque content is princezam and spoke, i heavily recommend planetlord just for quality of videos, and then mapicc and baconnwaffles0 (or maypick and baconnwaffles1 for second channel videos) for more clip-compilation-esque videos. im probably biased, there are plenty of other good youtubers on the server as well and a complete season 5 list can be found here

unfortunately soo much of the personality and content is missed or twisted in videos, and they tend to lag behind the storyline by months... art takes time

instead, a lot of the community relies on streams. here is a community made and run vod archive that has ls streams from even 2022! the streams are typically at random times or have hours notice, and you can find all of their twitch accounts here (some stream on youtube)

this server works in seasons, they are currently in s5 right now and you do not necessarily need to watch previous seasons to know what's going on, but there are many references to past seasons... weirdly especially in this season. s1 was... minecraft. s2 is more pvp focused, s3 gathered their story near the end, and s4 was pretty much all story... at least from the princezam perspective.. i have a helpful document that lays out the main story. s5 is the closest to the best of both worlds (pvp and lore) so far

it seems very overwhelming but it grows onto you like a disease i promise

hey wsg cockmented! what are your tips on colours poses and shit

Hello Hist Histo Gold Historix . this is a really hard quesitons

im not very good at tips and tricks but here's what i do:

fiurst i really like pinterest here's my 2000+ pin board for art inspiration

for colors there are some things that seem right according to the Cogmented Guidelines which is just tone, atmosphere, feeling, balling, ETC...

out of the three art classes ive taken in my life all of which were in my most recent school years has been in charcoal, so a lot of what i pick is based on values too: ill turn the canvas black and white using hue blending mode, or take a picture on my phone and turn it black and white for real life things

my main goal for character pieces is to make the focus stand out but also be cohesive with the background, so ill use different values to differentiate those if colors are similar. red is much darker than yellow, even at the highest saturation, u get it. the rest is just using opposites on the color wheel

i also tend to use blending modes.. usually around 2-3 layers?

these are my base colors

kinda hard to distinguish zam in the values, yeah? and planet's shoes are far too bright, i want planets face and arms and closed fists to be their focus

i use a wide variety of the blending modes, but here both of these worked to darken the characters while increasing their saturation

the similar qualities on the characters make them cohesive with each other despite the wildly different designs and colors.. this could also just be a "style" thing that makes it cohesive but that gets more into shapes and how i draw and i dont think i could even explain that

there's also just general inspirations.. i chose a light blue background for this probably because i was subconsciously inspired by an 8 year old pmv of hawkfrost and ivypool by m0zarts using the song that is in the caption (personal by stars) AND because it's a softer color outside of planet's intense pinks and zam's yellows

this is called like triadic color palette i think i cant remember

there are always exceptions to rules and based on the atmosphere i will make the character blend in more e.g.:

for poses jii dont know i have visions in my head AND pinterest boards: 1 2

a lot of my art is expressive through poses instead of expressions because most of my designs dont have the capabilities for human expression; you're left with actions and body language (im also mad alexithymic so that's probably another reason why)

ignoring general atmosphere and art style, both are big movements but hold very different emotions ^_^ sharp and angry and desperate vs gay and carefree

the use of perspective further helps the emotions within poses, lower views make a character more intimidating, etc etc you get it for sure.

if you want to go hard on perspective, colors/lighting, and composition i highly recommend taking a film class or course or watching a video idk or something related to media-making.. drawing and film are very similar especially in regards to things like storyboarding.. the rule of thirds and camera angles that depict feeling are soo helpful to have in the back of your mind shoutout my one film and media class from 7th grade

idk ! i think about it a lot because i usually only play minecraft when im playing an smp... things outside are never safe, also because how to beat gods is my favoritest stream in the whole wide world and i rewatch it frequently, but also for a couple other reasons regarding ls in general:

starting broad.. the only time an enderchest is used to keep things safe is in dangerous circumstances, itd be for easy transport and inventory space otherwise, youd leave it out freely...overall, this is a message about danger and about keeping things hidden...

i really like s4 and it's presentation of power, the items were out of vitalasy's enderchest because he felt safe, because he was never quite secretive enough about what he had, it was right behind his bed and now spoke had to cover his tracks... the stakes were incredibly high in this space in time and for the entire end of the server. 3ht had these god items in their enderchests, they could be seen as hypocrites, but they willingly show spoke their items anyway. they were never safe and never have been

it's the implication after that spoke has more up his sleeve, that they had only grazed power and that he has more than they know, every attempt to hide will be in vain

ive read too much into it after all this time and my other thoughts felt too cringe or long-winded to put... but it really did seem like every step of s4 had a sort of purpose, intentional or not and this very mundane, very person-circumstance oriented statement was just... interesting and asked, or implied the question of safety and power to four very mortal people at god-point
