Advantages of a Coworking Community
While coworking provides you with a logistical solution to get the job done, it's no solo flight. Coworking opens opportunities for many to work side by side and still keep a healthy camaraderie among peers. At our space, we have individuals who keep their own creative interests and yet naturally stimulate each others' minds. Coworking was never just about the unlimited coffee and tea, or the office amenities that one could make use of. Coworking works because there is a community. Here are a few reasons why we think the community contributes a lot more than just filling up a space: 1) They provide inspiration and stimulation. Need to brainstorm? Why not ask your seatmate? Turn to the guy on your left and ask him what he thinks of your project. It's the best way to do a quick market study and you didn't even have to exert maximum effort. 2) They get you. Everybody might be doing their own thing but everybody probably has just as much to accomplish as you do. Driven by the energy around the people around you, you'll be surprised to get a lot more done than you would if you chose to stay home alone. It's called the Drive Theory. 3) You get to network naturally. The best part about coworking is you get to meet the key people. Need a designer or tech guy? Why not look around the room. Maybe there's already someone near you who would be willing to lend a hand. And if they don't fit the criteria, then maybe they have friends who can help you. Coworking works because of the people. You get the job done because there are people around you who will stimulate your mind and perhaps even challenge your ideas. By working alongside other people something drives you to accomplish more. Next time you're at a space take a good look around and maybe somehow you'll be able to take advantage of the inspiration from your community.
