Turning Cold Traffic Into Conversions
My business partner and I finally went live with our latest online business: workout system for men.
Initially, we sent an email out to 50 of our friends. Then, sent two follow-up emails shortly thereafter.
Of the 50 contacts, 12 purchased the Dana DeSarle System. Not a bad conversion rate!
We initially sent people to this landing page: Men's Fitness Program For Busy Professionals.
This page converted well.
The next step was to send more traffic to the site. Now, I wanted to send a lot of traffic to the site for as few dollars as possible.
Whenever you are paying for traffic, it's a good idea to make sure to test your landing pages for conversions. Obviously, a huge mistake would be to send traffic to a page that doesn't convert! Total waste of money.
I like to use StumbleUpon ads to send a lot of traffic to new websites (or sites that I have made substantial changes to). Their ad network is really good and it is inexpensive.
So I set up the ad campaign. A day later, the campaign was declined.
This landing page (workout exercises for men) was deemed "too sales-y" by StumbleUpon. Of course, this landing page is a long-form sales letter, so the denial was kind of expected.
The problem is, we know the sales letter is converting. We want people to get to that sales letter and buy the workout system for men. Problem is, we don't have any traffic yet. We need to pay for traffic.
To be approved by all the major ad networks, including Google, you have to have a website that provides a good user experience and has good content.
So, I am redesigning the home page to be accepted by these ad networks.
