There is a lot of evidence for the argument that animals feel emotions. Ask any pet owner or anyone who has ever bonded with an animal.
But let’s think for a moment.... when we think of animals showing that they are happy, sad, etc., what creatures immediately come to mind?
Dogs. Cats. Elephants, Furry creatures in general, right? What about cold-blooded creatures? You know what I’m talking about-- snakes, lizards, turtles, etc. Most people don’t really think of cold-blooded animals as emotional beings, but aren’t they? Are there non-furry creatures out there that have ways of showing their humans how they feel that the rest of us just don’t know about?
What could a snake do to show it’s appreciation? Maybe a nose boop? What about lizards? Do they make themselves more visible in their enclosures for their owner’s pleasure? Maybe a turtle does something special to say thank you for its favorite food being given to it?
So, cold-blooded pet lovers, regale me. Tell me about your experiences. How do your scaly companions show their affection? How do they express how they are feeling to you?
Let’s not leave the aquatic pet owners out of this discussion! Fishy friends! Do they throw more “kisses” when they get their favorite treats? Maybe they do a cute aquatic dance? Tell me! I want to hear about it!
