          A rattling noise sent adrenaline spiking through the thirteen year old's veins, making her jerk upright in bed. It had been a few years since she and Maria had left the Drevis Mansion, starting their lives over in a little cottage in the woods, but the nightmares that the curse left Aya with hadn't left.

          Tugging the blankets closer to her chest, she concentrated on breathing. It was strange how these fears and dreams came and went. Sometimes she felt invincible, like her nerves were made of the strongest steel, but other times she felt as frightened as she had the hour the curse had begun three years ago.

          "...Maria?" she whispered. "M-Maria, are you there?"
