The sun shines bright upon the wasteland that is now Beacon Hills. Cars are smashed up against trees or posts, flies are everywhere due to the bodies that have been feasted on by the zombies. The area looks as if a herd of monkeys trampled through it with, or as if hell sucked the life out of it. Not a single human in sight. At least other than the person walking beside her.
She doesn't know how it happened that they ended up walking together, side by side, keeping an eye out for each other. They clash sometimes, often, most of the time, and it gets irritating but they technically don't have a choice. Plus two heads are better than one.
It happened in a blink of an eye. They were all together, the whole pack but due to a sudden invasion of zombies, they had to go their separate ways. And Lydia was lucky enough to have been able to get out of the place alive, and stumble upon Derek.
They've been walking for quite some time now, and her feet are killing her but the last time she complained, he said something about leaving her alone and she decided that letting his head cool off would be the best idea. So her mouth is shut, (and so is his) only the howling of the wind, the groans of the walkers, and their steps against the concrete pavement being heard.
A grumbling sound startles her and she moves herself a little bit closer to him, hoping he wouldn't notice. And she finally decides to open her mouth much to his disdain.
"---- Can we rest now?"
