IKKUMA FLANNEL
With winter weather like the one we’re having in Toronto, flannel is an absolute must in your closet. I practically live in flannel shirts during the winter, so writing about this particular flannel should come as no surprise. California label, Coldsmoke Co. has released their 2014 Ikkuma Flannel, which is almost a hybrid of a flannel and a light jacket.
What sets Coldsmoke Co.’s Ikkuma Flannel apart from others out there are all the little details. It has a linen/cotton inner dobby lining, dobby cloth elbow patches, and a cross back yolk (for a more fitted cut) among other things. So even if you decide to wear it its on own or layered with a vest, you can still show off these little details.
What really got my attention to this flannel was not only the rugged pattern, but the fit. It’s not too slim and it’s not too bulky. It’s just the right cut, especially at the sides (which on most flannels, usually tends to look boxy). So why am I all about how well it fits? Well, first off even on its own you want this piece to look like you’re wearing it, not the piece wearing you. And in cold winter weather you usually tend to wear layers. The better fitting a piece is, it’s less likely that your overall outfit is going to look like you just put on a bunch of boxy layers. Running at $280 USD and coming in three colourways: navy, black and white, you know that it’s got the quality and warmth to hold up against (almost) any cold weather condition.
