just get me through tonight; tel & cole
The first night had been dreamless, a blessing for Mortel after he'd been thrust into a place that he didn't know full of people who apparently knew more about him than the man knew himself. He had been looking forward to repeating that ideal of sleep after a particularly stressful day of being told that he was supposedly once one of the creatures that had terrified him the other day and was brought back to life by another one of a different kind, but it seemed that luck wasn't on his side. Tel hadn't been sure how long he had been asleep before the dreamless sleep gave way to horrific images of himself as a vampire tearing people's necks out with his fangs in what seemed to be an older time. He could feel their fear and hear the rapid beating of their hearts as he pierced their skin with his fangs and stole what was left of their lives, leaving them in nothing but terror and darkness as they died, but he couldn't wake from the nightmares, not immediately. Just as he sunk his teeth into another one of them, Tel woke with a shout, and he jolted up on the couch, entire body trembling as he gasped for breath. He could feel his heart racing in his chest, pounding heavily as he tried to shake the nightmare from his head, the fear that he felt of his own self, of the monster that he'd become. He pressed his face into his hands, trying to wish it away, because the man was terrified of the nightmare and the idea that he could have ever possibly been one of those unfeeling creatures.
