Of Vital Importance || Daniel & Ezra
Daniel walked into the small Starbucks shop on Fifth Avenue; it was a Sunday afternoon and the place was home to a mild, small crowd of customers. He ordered a coffee and sat down at a small table in the rear of the store once he'd gotten it. He'd planned for today to be the day when Gabby met his parents and they'd share news of her pregnancy. They'd however had a fight and she'd left the city, leaving him bluer than usual. To top off what had become a bad day, he'd received a weird message related to the Rhea Bailey kidnapping.
It's exact statement played in his head repeatedly, the motive now becoming clearer as something more sinister than money. The kidnap was just another thing to add to his mounting list of problems; business was competitive, he had a baby on the way with a woman he'd known for just over a month and now he'd been drawn into a crime. Daniel remembered vividly the last time he'd spoken to Rhea; she hadn't been happy at the news he was an expectant father and they'd quarreled. It occured to him that that conversation might have been the last one they'd ever have. He tried to put such thoughts out of his mind as he waited for Ezra.
